Re: AM/FM Radio install on a 1971 TBird...how to????

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll find the same thing. When I look at the parts book it doesn't show too many options for the harness going to the door. The only two seem to be without or with power windows so I think I'll just need to come up with the small jumper that goes from the door harness t...

AM/FM Radio install on a 1971 TBird...how to????

So my 71 came with an AM radio with the one front and two rear speakers. Id like to know what it takes to get the AM/FM in there. I have a working AM/FM now. I know to put door speakers in there I would need the large aluminum door pieces with the holes for the speakers. I'm looking for those. I als...

Re: Wanted: 8 track radio for a 1971 Thunderbird

Thanks for looking.

Do you happen to have a wiring diagram that shows how to hook up the various radios? I want to test one on my bench but not sure what goes where.

Re: Wanted: 8 track radio for a 1971 Thunderbird

Thanks for chiming in. The 8 track is am only. Takes a special face plate/bezel that only worked on the 8 track. The am/fm also takes a special face plate that is specific to that radio. Let me know what you find.

Re: Sequential turn signals not working?

Dan, your info was a big help. Mine flashes the 3 per side so it looks like that is correct. Thanks for taking the time to help a guy out.

Wanted: 8 track radio for a 1971 Thunderbird

Looking for an original working radio and 8 track for a 1971 Thunderbird. From what I'm seeing the 1970 will not work.

Thanks, Doug

Re: New member looking for info on 1971 Tbirds

It looks like they just redid the hopsack material. They did a good job too.

Re: Sequential turn signals not working?

Thanks for the input. Everything I read seems to indicate that 3 bulbs should be blinking in the rear. I've got 1157 bulbs in each socket. All bulbs verified as working. I tested the sockets too and all work. If I look up the required flasher can it indicates it's for 4 bulbs (flasher can is calibra...

Sequential turn signals not working?

My turn signals work but I'm not sure they are 100% correct. The rear tail lights contain a total of 10 lights. When the parking lights are on all 10 light but when signaling or hitting the brakes only 3 lights flash on each side. The inner most and outer most on each side do not flash....so 4 in to...

Re: New member looking for info on 1971 Tbirds

Those look great. Is that a grey color for the cloth? Those have been redone it appears. I would try the vinyl dye first and see how it turns out.

Re: New member looking for info on 1971 Tbirds

Thanks Dan. The plan is to try and fix the seat as best I can. I have fabric and vinyl samples already. The cloth appears to be a very close match but not sure about the vinyl. I'll know better when I have the car in front of me. Sure would be nice to find a good original seat in my color. I've had ...

My new 1971 Thunderbird

I'm new to the forum...or at least a recent addition and have a new 1971 Thunderbird Landau on the way. I haven't seen the car in person yet but hope to in the near future. I'm located in Morgan Hill California. My interests include Sunbeams, Hillmans, Desotos and other cars but have always liked Th...

Re: New member looking for info on 1971 Tbirds

Dan, I for sure need a curved wheel trim piece for the passenger side rear. I also need the piece that goes behind it running all the way to the bumper also on the passenger side. I believe its just around 35 inches long. I need the vinyl inserts too if you have them. I also need the vinyl insert fo...

The one I'm looking at has them on one side only. It had a minor fender bender in the 80's so I think that's probably when they disappeared from the driver's side.
