Re: high torque starter

How much difference can there be in a 153 tooth and a 164. I mean pitch wise. I’ve got one for that flex plate.

Re: high torque starter

I believe it’s the long nose. I think it is also the 153 tooth flywheel. The only ones I can find for 153 are for a Chevrolet

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Something that I neglected to replace when I was getting new parts was the harmonic balancer. So after much discussion with my peeps I ordered a new one. If I remember correctly it did have some dry rotting in the rubber and maybe it’s causing the slight knock. The knock just doesn’t sound like its ...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Question. Does anyone think you can have good oil pressure and have a bad main or rod Bearing. Just curious if I should just go ahead and pull the motor or pull the oil pan and check on things.

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Where did you get the radiator? Any mods to make it fit? I scanned the whole thread twice and didn't see - sorry if I just missed it. Thanks, Wally I purchased the radiator from Champion radiators. They have the best deal on it. So the fit and finish is great except for the two upper mounting bolts...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Well I also ran into a big problem. I believe that I’m gonna have to just go ahead and rebuild the motor. After all the testing and tuning with these new parts I have developed a knock. Which I believe to be a wrist pin. But I’m not sure so I believe I will be taking a break from the car. Try and r...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

With or without boost, if the brake hydraulics are free of air, you should have some resistance in the pedal. I would run through the system again: bench bleed the master cylinder, check the lines for leaks, make sure the wheel cylinders are holding pressure, etc. ~Steve I finally started getting s...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Ok so. I’ve started it and it runs. But I have no brakes. I’ve bleed them and have no air in the hydroboost but. I have no pedal.

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Well I’m just about ready to start the beast. I can’t wait to hear that cam. 0C37B95C-7AEC-4D81-8857-B376E490F41D.jpeg I’ve got all the wiring done and fuel line ran. All I have to do is drill hole in tank for return and put on new spark plug wires. The new distributor uses HEI style caps. So I had ...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Not to pick on Holley reps however one calculated optimal carb size for me for the 390 and came up with 480 cfm. I'm running the 670 cfm Holley and the engine is loving it. I agree with you. I’ve had some interesting conversations with those guys before. The best one was with Fitech. After talking ...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird build

Purdy! I talked to a tech at Holley a while back and his answer was basically that the computer wouldn't do anything to make up for the missing vac adv. But, I'm not really sure he knew what he was talking about. I just didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling talking to him. S The research that I have done...
