Had one in the 70’s, had a Yblock that was so tired that when I tried pumping up a tyre with that device the motor didn’t have enough ‘puff’ to inflate the tyre fully!

Re: How can i access/change out the arial ?
I found the toughest bit was forcing the rubber grommet into the hole on the side of the cowl. And feeding the wire along the back of the dash to the radio.

Re: baggin my 61
Going with the 64-66 Ridetech shockwaves on the front and the air over leaf on the rear. Got the idea for the upper control arm brackets from a fella in the Netherlands, Alistair Davison who did his 62 a bunch of years back. I hope he still checks in on this forum because I would like to get his co...

Re: 1963 Idles and quits
Immediately after the engine cuts out have a look down the throat of the carb to see if it’s dripping with fuel. Also try running the engine with a temporary fuel supply that you can stop the flow of fuel when the engine starts to cut out. But the coil scenario would be well worth considering. ( I h...

Re: Reputable carb rebuilder
I had the original carb on my ‘66 Town Landau 390 rebuilt by Shannon at Dynamic Industries at 3444 S. Grove St in Fort Worth TX. sent the carb off to him about 2013 or so and didn’t have long to wait. It arrived back in NZ looking like new and I only had to adjust the idle speed, it improved the run...

Re: timing keeps advancing
That’s right - there’s vacuum advance as you said but there’s mechanical advance, it is composed of two weights that swing outwards due to centrifugal force as the distributor shaft increases in speed as the revs increase. These weights are under the plate that your points would have been attached t...

Re: build sheet
When my Thunderbird arrived in NZ a vehicle inspector tore the build sheet in half when he found it in the back of the rear seat. I was most annoyed! So I laminated it and now keep it in a folder with all my other Thunderbird documentation. There was a second one in the springs under the passengers ...

Re:
I own both a '63 Bullet and a '65 Flair. I love both but I prefer the Flair birds for one simple reason: Long, low and flat. A nice 64-66 looks like,it's "sliding" down the road. When I drive my '65 I just feel like I'm driving something special, and different. My ‘66 Town Landau is the s...

Re: Headlight Relay Conversion Article Info Wanted
I had issues with my 66 Town Landau headlights suddenly going out due to the overload bimetallic strip in the light switch doing its job, I guess the old wiring was overloading it. So I fitted a relay, an unusual one in that it had one power wire feeding into it but two power- out terminals. I fitte...

Re: Emergency flasher switch
A bit of a thread hijack but when I push the four way flasher switch (we call them ‘hazard lights’ in New Zealand) I find only the left front turn signal blinks, anybody got an idea why the other three lights in the system don’t work?
My brake lights, turn signals etc all work fine.

Re: 66 C6 Pull - a couple questions
Unless you are determined to rebuild this yourself, get a transmission shop to bid the pull also. The labor time,on these vintage cars, for a transmission pull is pretty small and should not add much to a bill. Good luck. Vince I would second this, at almost 70 years old I don’t have the strength t...

Re: 2 vacuum questions
Manifold vacuum for sure!
It retards timing when you plant the gas pedal so no pinging yet advances the timing for more mpg when on a light throttle.
Ported vacuum is a crutch to help with emissions and in my experience wasn't used in the early/mid 60's

Re: 1966 390 2 BARREL CARBURATOR!
The carb in the photo is post-'66, possibly an Autolite/Motorcraft 2150 (?) , and most likely 1970s vintage based on the rounded top cover and the power valve (?) in the top of the carb behind the carb throat. Replacing the original 4-barrels with a 2-barrel was common during the mid-'70s "gas...
