Re: modern type starter
Many thanks for the article, however I am set on replacing the starter with something more modern. I am now just i little confused as to which is the best route: The Robb Mc - Ford Gen II Mini-Starter – PN 3026 or the 55-64 Powermaster Gear Reduction 12 V Starter 292,312, Y-BLOCK,352,390 FE I certai...

Thermostat Valve Cable
I need to replace the Thermostat Valve Cable which is operated by the Temperature lever on my 62. The shop manual does not really give any clues as to how to do this, so I plan to start by removing the Center Console side panel on the drivers side. If any one has don this job or has any advice it wo...

Re: Rag Joint Replacement
Jim, Thank you for confirming what I was beginning to suspect. Thinking that the rag joint could be contributing to play in the steering column I ordered one just in case. Now it’s clear that it’s not fitted, so not required. We are hoping that the play in the steering can be removed by adjusting th...

I just found this post:

Seems to suggest that 62's do not have rag - joints?

Re: Rag Joint Replacement
Hello picking up on this thread, I now understand that there are different types of rag-joints BUT more impotantly to my dilema, I understand that all 62 cars have a ragjoint? My car is a 62, Vin#2Y83Z100192 My car is at a competent classic car garage/shop, but not a TBird specialst, and they cant l...

Brake / Tail Lights again!
I understand that the Brake and Turn lights are on a shared circuit. My tail lights work, My brake lights work, But my right side (passenger side) turn single does not. Well actually when the Turn single stalk is engaged the brake light will go out, so there must be a short somewhere. Before I pull ...

Re: '65ish Spindles on a '61
Thank you Scott, I figured that the issue would be first with the Callipers fouling the rim. I was hoping that a compact four piston calliper might be available that would fit and produce enough breaking power, using an equally smaller rotor to be effective, but seems not. Although I hate polishing ...

Re: '65ish Spindles on a '61
Hello gents, My takeaway from this post is that the control arms, spindles, hubs, rotors and callipers from a 64-66 Thunderbird are a straight swap if you are running 15” wheels on a 61-63 TBird. My 62 has 14” Kelsey Hayes wire wheels, so not an easy swap. Leaving aside the booster and proportionate...
