Re: correct color for the engine compartment

Just to add my 2 cents, if you are doing a modified or custom, let your desires and thoughts be your guide and do it your way. As for me I am a fan of doing the engine compartment close to stock. Attached is my '62 Chestnut's engine compartment. Forgive me for the extra chrome, it's my old school he...

Re: 1961-1963 Air cleaner

The air cleaner housing can't be turned as the bottom of the housing is dished for distributor clearance.

Re: 1962 Roadster?

The "89" in the VIN denotes a Sports Roadster. With that 89 in the VIN you should show a "76B" in the Body Code area on the Data Plate.

Re: Powergen

ToniR, Connection at the PowerGen: Use the existing Yellow with Black Stripe generator wire and connect it to the Light Terminal Post on the PowerGen. On the Regulator, it's OK to leave the "A" coil in place as I did. No changes or adds to the wiring at the Voltage Regulator, just leave it...

Re: 1961 Battery Hold Down Clamp

I've used this battery in my '62 convertible for a couple of years now. Works and fits without any issues. I got mine from a BatteriesPlus+ store. They had it in stock and listed as a SLI27FM.

Re: Powergen

PowerMaster, at the time, did not have a step pulley for this application. I was the first installation requiring this and they custom made a pulley for me. It appears that they have now made this part a stock item. You should be able to order the PowerGen with the step pulley installed directly fro...

Re: 62 Cylinder Shields Over or Under Trunk Mat?

I concur with Alan. The mats should go over the shield mounting hardware.
Note the photos on Jim Wulf's link to an original '62 convertible trunk.

Re: Wiper blade size

Per the Blue Bible:
1961-1963 use a 16 1/2" arm
1961-1962 use a 16" blade giving a 2" overlap (also verified on my '62)
1963 uses a 18" blade which should result in a 4" overlap
Hope this helps!

Re: 63 fan blade for AC car

The correct setup for your A/C car would be the 7 blade fan using the shorty fan clutch along with the fan shroud.
Click on the photo and it will rotate to the correct orientation and expand.

Re: Engine Cranks Slowly

I think Bill and Cliff hit it on the head. Assuming that all electrical connections are good, then a multi-vis oil, 10W-30 or I use 10W-40 along with a fully charged battery that has ample capacity, I'm running a Duracell 840 CCA battery then you should be good to go. If it's still slow cranking the...
