detent/shifter lever swap addendum

Hey all, I just finished swapping the detent and shift lever on my '62. I followed the very nice work put together @ http://www.southsandia.com/website/shiftdetent.html by Tom G. (aka ABQTBird) I wanted (in case it is helpful to any of you), to add a few of my own notes to that whole procedure. -Fir...

Re: Dipstick and tube

I had the same issue, which was one of the first indicators that I didnt get the original engine via the PO. Since (as I think many "much more knowledgeable folks" on this forum can confirm) there is no such thing as a matching numbers T'bird (at least not the bullets), you may not have th...

Re: Headers?

Thanks George! I agree that some sort of hoist would be best. Right now I'm debating between getting a hoist vs a lift (for other uses I mention in a separate recent post, specifically the quick-jack brand). I did look over historical posts about headers before starting this new thread and I agree o...

Re: mystery hose

Thanks guys! I have a bunch of manuals and FE books, but not the electrical one (a bit of a head scratcher that this function is covered under electrical), anyway, heres more pics of what janky stuff the PO did. You can see that Ive got several strange things going on (kinda wondering how I even had...

Re: mystery hose

Thanks as always to all, I took Jims advice and did a deeper then original search on the forum and saw the part of the convo that goes like this: George, Here are some possible vacuum check valves: Mac's 66-69941-1. Dorman 47149. Motorcraft YG360. ACDelco 14047619. Standard Motor Products DCV1. Ther...

Re: mystery hose

Alan, thanks! So it does hook to one (of the two) ports on the brake booster? That (on my setup), has one hose hose connected to the intake manifold and one one hose that goes to nothing. I’m guessing that that larger OD hose connects to this little hose coming out of the heater and has a check valv...

Re: mystery hose

Lots of views, no responses.... Sorry for the multiple pics, was having an issue on uploading pics because of my browser. I think that it has something to do with a vacuum line from heater assembly with an inline check valve (which of course is not there because its cut a cut hose now), back to the ...

Re: Headers?

Thanks El, and no worries about taking offense. I think I may have incorrectly stated why they were over my head. I dont have an engine hoist, so I should have said "I have no safe way to get that deep into the block, because I dont have a proper hoist", that would have been more accurate....

mystery hose

Hey all, can someone help me identify the hose I am holding in this pic. I finally got a helper to get the hood all the way off so I can do a number of things in the rear bay. Thats when I noticed this hose not connected to anything. Its just above the heater core hoses on passenger side on my '62 h...

lifting a bullet bird

I did my best to research older threads here on this before bugging any of you with a new post. I'm considering getting a QuickJack brand lift. https://www.quickjack.com/ Has anyone used these? good, bad, ugly? The old girl would flatten me like a pancake, so jackstands kinda freak me out. I have ra...

Headers?

I tried to look over previous posts mentioning headers before starting this topic. I didnt see too much, which was surprising. I'd love to do headers on my '62. From all accounts its one of those mods that should be simple, but never is. I have a couple FE books by Rabotnick as well as original manu...

Re: Hood Safety Latch Striker Removal?

Wow, that is different. Thanks for all that info (and pic) Jim, I really appreciate it. Sure sounds like I'm just gonna have to muscle em out of there. I'll probably wait until I get the bumper off (for separate reasons) because they are pretty tricky to get to with anything big enough and strong en...

Re: Hood Safety Latch Striker Removal?

Thanks Jim, as far as I can tell, there is no interface between them (nor the plate they secure) and the radiator support. Sure looks like there maybe was some sort of bracket there at one time based on what looks like a rusty outline of something? Here is a pic of frontal view and then from underne...
