Mine did the same thing. Squeeze the dip stick cap at the entrance to to the filler tube so it's not easy to pull out. A vice grip works well but don't over do it !! This fixed my problem.

Selling on Ebay ?

I am selling my 63' Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster and have enlisted a classic car dealer to sell my car. I have had several inquiries on the car but most of these customers appear to be "tire kickers". I am looking at selling my car on Ebay and I wonder how effective this is? Additional...

Here's my two cents worth regarding purists, wanting every nut and bolt to be original to ground up restoration to be judge at a premier car show verses a daily driver, modified and suited to their needs or mental desires. All men want the perfect wife, beautiful, rich and to be judged by the famous...

My answer is: During the 50's and 60's, assembly line workers were part of a "team" producing a vehicle of passion. These workers were paid a good wage and their benefits were second to none. Today, as evident in my my wife's 2007 Cadillac Escalade, workmanship doesn't exist in todays auto...

Yup.. I drained the oil from the bottom of the oil pan and did this 3-4 times until I got to the full mark. I have the correct oil dipstick and tube and found 6 quarts was too much. I would drain the oil before driving your car with more than the recommended amount of oil. I find it to be safer than...

I too read the owner's manual some time back and noticed to add 6 quarts of oil when completing a oil change including the oil filter. I follwed the information indicated in the owner's manual and found I was overfilled. I removed the oil down to the full level and ever since I have been adding only...

POWER BRAKE BOOSTER PART #2 / 1963 THUNDERBIRD

After removing the master cyclinder from the power brake booster, can the power brake booster be removed from my 1963 Thunderbird firewall without disconnecting the brake lines to the master cyclinder and leave the master cyclinder in the engine compartment? I'm trying to keep from disconnecting the...

My next question is:
How difficult is it to remove the power brake booster from the firewall so I can ship it to a rebuilder?
What tools are required for the job and what is the basic amount of time it takes to remove the power brake booster?

Power Brake Booster

After driving my Thunderbird recently, I noticed the pedal was hard as a rock when I push down on the brake pedal. I replaced the master cylinder a few months ago in hopes of resolving the brake problems but today I could hear a vaccum leak from the power brake booster itself. So, is it best to have...
