Re: 6r80/10r80 swap
Thats one way to look at it. I had the motor built up nicely. With the sniper Efi and all I was looking to prevent all the blow outs while I have everything stripped down. The COM though is still hanging there. The easy thing would be to just bolt it all back up and sell of the C6 i originally had b...

6r80/10r80 swap
I was preparing my 62 for a swap to a C6 from a 428. While looking at different options now see there are swap kits for the Ford FE motor. The idea of putting an automatic 6 or 10 speed is really appealing. Roughly though the cost is 900 for the adaptor kit, 1200 for the electronic controller, 700-1...

Re: Anyone tried an FI Carb/system?
I’ve been looking into the various TBI kits from Fitech, Holley and MSD for my build. After discussing it with my engine builder we decided to go for the MSD unit combined with msd distributor. They all, cost about the same. The advantage of the MSD was more tunability with the distributor as well,as...

Re: 61-63 convertible top hoses
This was addressed before in another post. sounds like 3/4" white medical tape is the correct replacement.

Re: Convertible Top Frame overhaul.
Fortunately the welder is pretty skilled. He' restores vintage aircraft and is quite the fabricator. I'll see what he says when I drop off the parts.

Convertible Top Frame overhaul.
I was finally able to access and disassemble the convertible top of my 62. Sent Tom Chitwood all the relays and limit switches and he found a few defective parts that he will fix. The wiring was not as bad as it appeared, but there were a few worn spots found. The cloth mesh pretty much disintegrate...

Re: New member, new 62 convertible
All the relays pulled, cylinders removed and trunk slowly getting cleaned out. I can now see why the top wasn't fully resting on the body by the tray!

Re: New member, new 62 convertible
Got that top manual as well as the PDF one from the square birds site. Went through tonight and started going through every piece. Looks like all new relays were already installed. First thing to check now is do I have power? Starting at the main feed to the switch and working my way back. Did disco...

Re: New member, new 62 convertible
I really appreciate the inputs so far. Called Tom and had a great discussion. Going to go through the whole setup and keep it as it is to make everything work. Looks like I may be sending some of it back to be rebuilt. Sometimes we get crazy ideas of "improvements" and then discover what w...

Re: New member, new 62 convertible
Thank you for the referral. I will call him Monday to get started. I do have the motor, it's just unbolted.

Re: New member, new 62 convertible
I did get the top manual. Was reading it before I got the car, now that I have physically checked things out it is making more sense. I am really looking forward to the challenge. First thing is to jump all the relays and check the wiring. Once I know all the cylinders and motors are good and there...

Re: New member, new 62 convertible
Put her up on the lift today to get a better look. Good news. No rust at all in the pans. The gas tank has been replaced. PO said he thought it might be leaking. It is, right at the drain plug threads. Found a bit of bondo/rust repair on passenger lower fender. Transmission is covered in oil and lea...

New member, new 62 convertible
Took a leap and bought this 62 convertible on EBay. The bones are good. Power windows work, but are sticky, top is disconnected with the flip lid detached, but There is a new pump and what appears to be clean cylinders. Only rust I can find is a little around the package tray. Quarters, doors and fl...
