Re: Ford PS Pump Brackets

Thanks. I looked at all the pics and still couldn't figure it out. I'm thinking they adjusted the pulley on the shaft maybe? Regardless, I ended up taking the factory one and replacing the rubber bushings in it with press fit solid ones. This allows me to use the old bracket without the back bracing...

Ford PS Pump Brackets

I designed and cut out an alternator bracket on a CNC plasma table, and thought I would do the same for the PS pump bracket - I have a Ford PS pump. When I did a test fit, I noticed the pulleys did not line up. The pump pulley ended up about a half belt width forward of the engine pulley. I went bac...

Re: Front Shock Plate Bushing Installation

Thanks for the reply, Scott. I actually ended up just lubing the shaft (sounds so wrong) and the bushing went over fairly easily. I did press the tabs as I have a press. Started with a ball peen hammer but it was a touch small, so I made a "die" out of round stock on the lathe. Progress!

Front Shock Plate Bushing Installation

Hey All, I usually hang out in the modified section but this seems to belong better here. I am reinstalling my 1965 Bird's front shocks after having them off for quite a while. I installed new guide plate bushings (the ones that you press the tabs over to hold them in place). When trying to put thos...

Re: Broke Intake Casting!

I ended up fixing it up with JB Weld O:

We'll see how it lasts. @Dunk67: Thanks a ton for offering the unused intake, but I doubt I'll be anyway near NJ in the near future - but warms my heart when someone offers help like that.

Broke Intake Casting!

UGH!!! Removed old temp sensor so I could install new temp gauge and the bushing stayed in the manifold. Tried to use an extractor to back it out and got a little overzealous. IMG_7368.JPG Well, I guess I get to try the silicon bronze brazing wire and pure argon I got for my MIG. Honestly, it looks ...

Location for Electric Fan Temp Switch Sensor?

Where have you guys placed the temp sensor for your electric fans? I've got a spare hole behind the thermostat on the intake. Could also put something in line with radiator hose I suppose (bottom, top, or does it matter?).

Thanks,
Wally

Re: Any Pics of Aluminum Radiator Installations?

Actually, I got a helper and was able to seat the bottom correctly and it fit just fine! I modified the top shroud/bracket and I think it turned out great.

Re: Any Pics of Aluminum Radiator Installations?

Sorry if it's annoying, but replying to my own post... The aluminum rad I got has nice mounting brackets that match up with the stock one on the bottom. Problem is...the corners of the side tanks are squared off instead of rounded like stock. So, the aluminum rad won't fit down in to rounded bottom ...

Any Pics of Aluminum Radiator Installations?

Would love to hear any details about aluminum rad installs. What brackets did you use? Any other mounting details. Stock hoses? Pics would be sweet.

Thanks in advance,
Wally

Which way does rod from pedal linkage to brake booster go?

Hey Guys, Working on my '65 again. Had the booster rebuilt a while back (a long while - I have lots of hobbies!), and I'm trying to re-install it. The end that connects to the linkage can go like this: IMG_6723.JPG <--- Up Or like this: IMG_6724.JPG <--- Up Anyone know off top of your head? Lol, I s...

Re: I always wanted to be an archaeologist!

It looks pretty rough, but I think I'm gonna put an aftermarket wheel on anyway. I managed to get it all out - quicker than I thought I would - and have the column out! Have some other work to do tomorrow, but will start reassembly Monday while things still look familiar.

Thanks,
Wally

I always wanted to be an archaeologist!

Just when you think you've seen it all... While waiting for my brake booster to come back from the rebuilder, I thought this would be a great time to repair the sloppy shifter. I'd welded up the notch in the shift lever a while back, but never did the full job. Started out bad - couldn't get the cen...
