Re: New to Forum: 1962 Thunderbird Convertible

I don't think too many convertibles were ordered with air conditioning from the factory, and power windows and seats were also an option, in the end, like with all classic cars, it is only worth what someone will pay you for it,,,

Transmission Rebuild Kit

Looking to buy a rebuild kit for my 62 cruiseomatic, I think that transmission is referred to as a medium case MX?

Can anyone suggest a vendor to buy a kit from and any suggestions as to what should be included in the kit?

Fuel Gauge Issue

Gauge very slow to register when ignition/accessory switch turned on, most times, not at all, just stays just above E. After filling with 10 gal. of fuel, the gauge goes just about to the full mark which tends to have believe there was already a 1/2 tank but didn't register as such. Gauge checks as ...

CONVERTIBLE CYLINDER GUARDS

Hard to find good solid originals so does anyone know if reproduction cylinder guards are available for the convertible; I'm referring to the metal guard that surrounds the trunk lift cylinders so that nothing in the trunk can roll underneath and damage the cylinder,,,

Re: Search of a Power Brake Booster for a 1962 Thunderbird

It's a matter to simply Google Thunderbird parts vendors of which there are several, Thunderbird headquarters, bird nest, Larry's, Pat Wilson's, etc. If yours is a '62 it should have the original "screw" type, which are few and far between nowadays but they will be able to send it out and ...

Re: Trans shifting question.

You should be starting out and doing all your driving in D1, putting the selector into D2 will start you out in second gear for snow or mud etc., shifting between D1 and D2 at 50 miles an hour will do nothing. Putting the selector into L while driving at cruising speed will drop the transmission dow...

Re: ROTUNDRA TACHOMETER REPAIR HELP

yes, I spliced in a green wire to the short black as at the time I was completely out of black of that gauge and I was in a hurry to try the tach, so yes it was wired as you had indicated in the other post, that was several years ago so I put it aside and the post about the '63 Rotundra tach renewed...

Re: 1963 Rotunda Tachometer

So when wired into the pink ignition line, which is a resistance wire, the tach gets somewhat (or significantly) less than 12V, is that correct? If so, this could be the reason so many of these tachs are found to be not working/burned out, due to wiring them to a full 12v by someone who doesn't foll...

ROTUNDRA TACHOMETER REPAIR HELP

Had mentioned this in passing in another thread but thought it best to start a new topic. I have a Rotundra tachometer which is in very nice shape cosmetically but is not working and I would like to try to repair myself or at least take a look inside to see what may have failed. Problem is getting t...

Re: 1963 Rotunda Tachometer

A perfect example of the tach being wired incorrectly, I bought this at a swap meet many years ago, seller said they didn't know if it worked, I bought it, and it didn't! The wires were cut which should have been a red flag, but it was/is a very nice, unmolested tach, with the exception of the wire...

Re: 1963 Rotunda Tachometer

Interestingly, the Faria tach with the ebay link, shows a picture of the wiring diagram label, which over the years becomes no longer readable from age or being handled by sellers and buyers of swap meets and flea markets; this eBay one still looks readable. As I remember Faria tachs are not wired t...
