Re: Headlight Relay Conversion Info wanted for Scoop article
I've talked with Daniel Stern a few times over the years and he has built some excellent kits to re-wire or brighten factory headlights simply through solving some of the wiring issues these older cars have. He would be an excellent resource for this, and his products are also top notch. https://www...

Re: Heater Hose Plumbed Through Carb Spacer Necessary?
No it's not required. It was what they designed at the time and with the HP requirements/limits in place, not to mention counting all their beans. Ultimately if you're comfortable modifying the vehicle, you're going to want to ditch that 110 lb cast iron intake manifold as soon as yesterday. If you ...

Re: Headers -Again
FPA was down the street from me. They said they have slightly different builds for each year of the bullet bird. Aside from sounding fantastic and freeing up ~8-10 hp, they will also make it easy to remove spark plugs and also diagnose exhaust leaks as they are also made for easy access with a ratch...

Re: Pulling Engine and Trans
Pulling them as a long block will be easier. and with a 4-post if you could get a comealong above the car and do most of the work with the lift up, then just lower the car and roll the beam forward as the engine comes out. FYI: I recommend leaving the power steering line attached so you can replace ...

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
I have used the Bosch version of this unit and had good success with it. When I bought the car the pump was already failing so I did a roadside repair and this is what the local autoparts shop had. On Amazon they show you the different PSI units. This gets re-branded heavily. https://www.amazon.com/...

Re: AC upgrade for 61-63 TBird?
For my leaky AC compressor, I found these guys and they have answered a few questions with what were thoughtful and helpful answers. When it comes time to replace the system (as it leaks and can't hold a charge), this was the rout that I was going to go.... Unless I could find the leak, but so far I...

Here, here. Classic cars aren't rebuilt through google searches and youtube videos entirely. Arty hit the nail on the head on just about every aspect of his post! It's a long slog if you don't have a technical/mechanical background. You'll learn more along the way with an open mind and willingness t...

Re: Aftermarket gas tank
Here's a link to my page about the fuel tank that you may find useful. http://www.tbirdgarage.com/Site_2/Technical_Details/Pages/Fuel_Sender.html There is a reference to the plastic plug often found taped to the top of the fuel tank, and unfortunately, the "explanation" link in the last p...

Re: 63 shift collar/ PLAY! In the Roll pin hole
You should research the "detent plate" issue that is very, very common in this generation of T-bird.
If so, there are many resources for you to do that replacement with google searching for that name and the generation of car.

Re: Darty Steering...what next?
I'm surprised nobody chimed in with the idler arm being the culprit. You've pretty much solved the problem by now with the steering box, but the idler arm in the '64+ is a much better design and longer lasting unit. It should still be on your "to-do" list as it's so cost effective and you ...

Re: 6r80/10r80 swap
I had looked into a simple C6 swap as we had a couple lying around the shop plus the ability to fabricate the tranny brace in-house. Ultimately it was far too much of a project to deal with adapting the linkage and running new lines. Can't imagine how much work would be needed to step up a half cent...

I'm really enjoying tracking your build and you're emotional investment into this project is fantastic! You clearly state you aren't a pro welder but aim for proper penetration, well, you gotta weld with the stick you got, just get as much penetration as you can. She's going to be so happy to have e...

Re: Engine smoking
Nobody has mentioned doing a leakdown test? Add a little bit of oil in there and you can quickly identify a leak well beyond what a compression test will reveal. Overall though, that's got to be a tired motor by now. If you know for certain what condition the block is in and how many times it's been...

Re: Whhitewall Cleaner
"Amazing Roll Off" and a brass bristle brush with gentle pressure have worked for me.
Obviously "brass wire brush" sounds crazy to use.... So look it up, it's the old-timer method for cleaning up whitewalls.
