Re: Dual exhaust for '56
I purchased and installed a complete dual exhaust system from CASCO on my 57
very well made and fine quality
I chose the aluminised pipe with the stainless steel mufflers, clamps and brackets
also added the muffler heat shields
went quite well

Re: 1957 locked up transmission
Remember the fordomatic has two internal pumps that will provide resistance when turning the drive shaft
usually after about a half turn it will feel like it’s locking up but if your turning the tire you should be able to overcome the resistance.

Ward, run the engine with the valve covers off
If you don’t see oil flow, pulling the rocker arm assembly is pretty simple
then you can check the oil passages through the head and rocker arm assembly
possibly they just need cleaned up
the car is talking to you, don’t ignore it

Re: Floor Pan Sound Deadeners & Sealer
Hi Dave, I assume that you have a manual transmission because you mention the rubber boot. I do have an automatic, I replaced the rubber that fits in the top and closes the area around the shift lever also lined the inside of the shifter box with insulation It was like a heater outlet before that.

Re: 3-Speed Manual Transmission Compatibility
Thats interesting about the relay for the Pertronix Igniter, I have a Mallory Unilite tach drive distributor on mine and works fine with the O.D. Rusty, I use a foil backed insulation from Lowe’s Comes in 6 inch rolls, haven’t had any heat issues with the sticky part be sure to insulate the inside of the shifter box, I had to also replace the rubber flap at the open end of the shifter box as well. I used a double sided foil insulation on top ...

Re: '57Aluminum valve cover gaskets
If a local parts house doesn't have a number for a 55/56/57 bird, ask for gaskets for a 62-64 Ford F100 292 engine. Same gasket. The Felpro label states that the gaskets are for a 5.1L, 4.8L 4.2 L 3.9L Know that the 5.2 is the 312 CBI, Wish they would also translate them to the English measurements...

Re: '56 TB Coil Wiring Question
With regards to the resistor
it depends on the coil you use
some coils have the resistance built into them and a resistor is not required
