Re: Installing Pertronix ignition module on 57

I am running the Pertronix I allows Max of 8volts, so I am running a Napa coil with 1.5 resistance with no need for a resistor. I ran the Flamethrower initially but after leaving my ignition turned on without the engine running it fried and died pretty quickly. I found Napa's standard coil was a clo...

Re: Temp Gauge Accuracy 57 TBird

My gauge runs about ⅛ inch from reaching the hot section of the gauge, if I am sitting in traffic on a hot day then I will see it creep up a little bit, if I am racing at high speeds down the freeway it might creep up a little as well, but mostly it just sits right at that same position. When I lase...

Re: Stabil marine?

3 weeks will not be a problem, you might (will) leak some fluid so keep some cardboard underneith. Your carb bowls will be be dry so you may need to prime the carb with a little fuel to ease starting ( I recently installed a electric fuel pump for this purpose). May want to consider a battery tender...

This week end (May 6th)a small contingent of our club members Carolinas Classic Thunderbirds attended the Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance in Pinehurst, NC. Weather was real iffy to start but the sun came out and it was a wonderful day. This is was my 3rd year in the Fairway club and 4th year in atten...

Re: Kinda feels strange...

Got that right, gotta drive them. I try to run around town a couple times a week. My kids are always needing rides here and there, so I take advantage of that. The other day while dropping my son off, his friend said "hey cool car", now all of a sudden he sees what I've been telling him al...

Kinda feels strange...

Well it feels strange that I have had nothing to post. I find myself going into the garage after work not finding anything to work on, maybe it's time for some polish and wax.

Thanks, I planned on getting under there and wire brush the mechanics and grease the pivot points. I was not sure if when they start to stick if that was a sign that something needs to be replaced. Ok, I'll start by cleaning and lubing.

Sticky parking brake.

Anyone ever had a sticking parking brake. When I apply the hand brake it seems to stay stuck on until I reach under the car and pull the arm that the cable is connected to, kinda like there may be a worn section in the lever. Do I just need to replace parts, use a heavier spring or grease it up... a...

Looks a good option.
For me it was an exact matchup, just make sure you adjust the accelerator pump, choke & idle mixture screws. Easy

Re: 1956 hesitation on acceleration

Bob, I have the same problem with the accelerator pump on my 56. Carb is stock. How were you able to clean the pump discharge tubes (jets)? I've looked at everything else you suggested, including install of new acceloerator pump. Thanks. Andy For the jets I unscrewed it from the top of the Holley c...

Re: Carb leak when hot and engine off.

yep, looks like the main butterfly shaft is worn as suggested. Tried to get an exchange carb from Larry tbird shop but they don't have any at the moment so will try to get it fixed locally. That's the only issue and otherwise the car runs just fine. its a 1957 carb 4 barrel. Not sure if there is a ...
