Re: How to install a Fuel Pump 1963 Thunderbird

Fuel pumps are a pain to work on in these models, I have installed studs in the engine block for both the fuel pump and oil filter housing. Not original but much easier to start a nut than a bolt in a cramped area.

A few months ago I purchased a Napa Gold filter, came in a Wix box and was a flat panel filter. Appears Wix recycled the part number! I then purchase one from Birds Nest.

Re: Idle Control Solenoid

My 62 parts car serial #653 build date 8/24 has this solenoid. This car could have been built with left over 61 parts. My 62 Ford Thunderbird Shop Manual page 10-32 that shows the wiring diagram shows the fast idle solenoid for models 83 and 85.

Re: 1963 Thunderbird drum brake conversion to 1965 Thunderbird disk brakes

I have converted my 61 to 65 disc brakes, used everything off the 65, spindles, lower and upper control arms, calipers and new rotors. Also added a hydroboost with Wildwood master cylinder. I installed the 61 coil springs and the engine crossmember was 4-5" off the ground. Switched out to 63 sp...

WIPER ARM ID

I cleaned out a shelf in my barn and found wiper arms, 2 sets of 61-63 and 2 unidentified sets, one set has a funky isolator on the blade mount both appear to be unpolished stainless steel. Posting to see if anyone can identify these.

Top relays C1SF-15672-A and 0SF-15672-D are now supplied with the bus bar tab boss shorter than the original. The swaging operation is ineffective in securing the tab to the boss as it can be lifted off with finger pressure. I called this to attention of the vendor and replacements were sent out but...

Re: Need 12 volts to coil 1962

The 61 and 62 Thunderbird harnesses that I worked on only had resistance wire under the dash. Easy to splice in standard copper wire from ignition switch to the harness plug on the firewall. Top plug, top row, second wire in from the right. I don't know what the spec is on the thunderbird resistance...

Re: Idle Control Solenoid

61 only. 62-63 had idle control moved to inside under dash. Suggest you get reproduction of 62 Tbird Electrical Assembly Manual to see how system went together. Fast Idle Device 62 Electric Assembly Manual shown on page 64 or Sheet 11 of 11 Drawing Page E2-4720-11. Shown on carb, when it moved unde...

Re: 61 Base Steering Column Connection To Steering Gear

I stumbled across this illustration in one of the vendor catalogs I have, it shows the rag joint coupling for the non-swing away steering column. The coupling that came with my 61 was beat and I could not locate a similar one to fit the splined input shaft of the steering box. I swapped in a steerin...

Re: Air conditioner clutch bearing.

Karl,
I replaced the bearing in my 61 a few months back and do not remember any spacers. Just remember the bearing was pricey and purchased from Amazon! Bearing was recently up on Rock Auto as a close-out deal. Sorry no photos!

Re: 62 tail light wiring mystery

Do yourself a favor and solder a ground wire to the outside of the new sockets and run the wire to a good ground. I've done that to every new or old sockets on the rear and front turn signals on both my projects. No ground issues with the lights.

Fresh air inlet duct.png This is what you need to purchase, they were in stock a month ago at Pat Wilson Thunderbird parts and I purchased one. You will have to remove the rubber and clamp from the new part and reuse the original flange. [img][/img]PXL_20240109_165209935.jpg (Below) O...

Re: Cruise O Matic No reverse..All in....

Marketplace or Craigslist is where I would start, I looked on Car-Part.com and found a couple of salvage yards that wanted $900 for a core. I ended up driving 400 miles round trip for my replacement.
