1956 leaf springs
Does anyone know if the 1956 Ford Thunderbird had 4 or 5 leaf springs? I ordered a pair from NPD and they sent me 4 leafs. The ones I pulled off my car had 5 leafs. When I checked the catalog, they said that the 4 leaf were correct forr 56 and the 5 leaf were correct for 1957.

1956 1957 3 speed shifter
I have a 3 speed shifter that will work with 1955 to 1957 baby birds. This is an original factory shifter. I media blasted the body and inner workings of the shifter. I just ordered the new rubber boot that came with the shifter when new. The chrome piece on top does have a small crack but it is hid...

lifting engine from car
What is the best way to remove an engine from a 1956 Thunderbird? The manual mentions some odd engine strap that I have never seen before. Where would be the ideal place to lift the engine from? Mike

I know this post is from February but I think I would have kept the engine and tranny if they were original to the car.
