Re: 1957 Thunderbird won't run when hot.
Pertronix ignitions require a ballast resisitor or a Pertronix coil with the ballast resistor built in. If they dont have it they will heat the coil up to the point of not running when hot. Been down this road with my Factory Five Daytona Coupe. Pertronix dizzy and Accel coil. Would run 10min on roa...

Re: Drop Spindles
That's where I was headed with it. I put the Ford Aerostar rear springs in the front of my 55 T bird and they are about 3 coils shorter but have equivalent spring rate. I also shed some weight off the front by pulling the Y block and swapping to an aluminum top end 302 with a C4 which helps the new ...

Re: Door check lever pics
Thats it!. Thanks. My brackets are still in but the arms were evidently cracked and broke. When they broke those little pins fell out and the springs shot off inside the door before I could look at it.

Door check lever pics
Anybody have any pics of how this assembles inside the door? Mine unfortunately were broken and laying in the bottom of the door along with the springs when I got it and started disassembly. I have most of the parts I think but no idea how they go back together.

Re: Millennial bought a classic (55)
In my opinion, if the wires are stiff and the insulation is cracking, the first thing you should do is replace it, all of it.. Electrical fires are the cause of most Tbirds going up in flames. No circuit breaker or other means are going to help you if you are on the road and a fire starts. I don't ...

Re: Millennial bought a classic (55)
Sharing information like this far more useful than peer to peer. Just like this mod for keeping your baby bird riding cooler. I hope this leads to a few extra sales for the owner who spent so much time perfecting it. I’m in Gold Country in Nevada City / Grass Valley and have chatted with some aweso...

Re: Millennial bought a classic (55)
Another millennial here with a 55 T Bird. Before committing to the 12v conversion inspect all the wiring in the car. I too got mine really cheap but it needed a lot of work and is currently undergoing a restomod. In my case a lot of my wiring had been chopped and spliced throughout the years. PW wir...

Re: Low back bucket seats in my '56
Look for a set of seats for a Cobra replica. They are short and have seen something similar in a baby bird before.

Anybody know the input yoke spline count? I swapped mine to a 302 with a C4 and the C4 output yoke uses a 1310 u joint and the stock 44 input yoke is much smaller. Was looking for a 1310 input yoke for the 44 with the correct spline count.

Re: Hard parts to find
Is a 55 steering box the same as a 57? If so I think I have one laying around somewhere where I converted mine to rack in pinion.

Manual window diagram
Im changing my power windows to manual regulators for a bunch of reason. One motor was 6v one was 12 v, wiring was all hacked up at some points switches are bad etc. Anybody have a diagram of how the manual regulators go in the doors? What parts do I need to save from the electric regulators?

Re: AOD conversion
I cant answer for sure but the AOD is a beefy trans. I put on in a 1964 Fairlane and absolutely despise it. Cant get the TV cable adjusted where I want it for shift points. Ive got a big bellhousing C4 in mine and its tight, I imagine an AOD would be very very close to needing some tunnel mods to fit.
