Re: Need a rear valance panel.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Raven I'm not a member of the southren Ontario club. But I am a member of a couple Ontario mustang clubs. That's good to know about the notches. May help me get everything lined up better. Looks like the best bet will be for me to remove it to pound out the dents and...

Re: Need a rear valance panel.
That ones pretty banged up too Part of the problem is both sides are messed up and there are no dimensions available in terms of factory specs. Any chance someone could take some clear pictures of the corners where the quarter and the valance panel meet? And maybe some measurements from common point...

Re: Need a rear valance panel.
Yeah that's the the one. My issue is the last guy to go at the car just beat it in and filled it full of mud. Both the rear panel and both quarters. Mud is over 2 inches thick in some spots. With the after market quarters. The rear panel is short by an inch and a half. Not sure how much of that is t...

Need a rear valance panel.
I'm trying to get my repop quarters fit up and it turns out the rear valance is damaged worse than I thought
Looking for one in better shape.

Re: 66 Front Suspension Rebuild
Not to hijack the thread but does anyone know if there is an upper ball joint available that is like the newer non lubricating style?
I seem to have a slight interference issue with the grease fitting and my new rims.

Re: 66 aftermarket wheels
I'm using 17 inch rims that were used on a 98 ish mustang. From what I have read if you want to clear calipers you need spacers. (I have a 64 and is currently still drum brakes. But I need to run 1" spacers for the 10 inch rims to clear the control arms) As for the rear 10 inch wide rim with of...

Re: chopping a hard top
With a unibody car (which the thirds are). The roof is a major part of the structure. A convertible unibody is built specifically to have no roof. Lots more strength in different spots (hence why they usually weight more than their roofed counter parts) If you cut the roof of your car the centre wou...

Re: 64 Tbird big project- 4.6L mod motor, 5spd manual, IRS
I can't get over how much space is in these wheel wells.
Saves a lot of extra work.
I haven't pulled the springs yet to see how far they can tuck without getting into the flanges.
But I'm not planning to run really low so hopefully won't be an issue.

Re: 64 Tbird big project- 4.6L mod motor, 5spd manual, IRS
Just FYI. Got the tires in this week and fitted up. If you remove the stock bump stop (which is bolted in) you can fit a 315 tire on the back end with no other modification. (Offset and back spacing of rim dependent of course) If you plan on a low stance and having the tire tucked right in then you'...

Re: Tackling Rust.
Thing about rust is the only way to know it's gone is to remove it. A lot of products claim to "stop rust" but they mean that they will stop rust from occurring but not stop or get rid of rust that is already there. Don't patch with Fiberglas. Especially on a unibody car. The sheet metal i...

Re: Removing trim
Thanks.
I was wondering if that the way it was. Seemed very solid to just be the clip style. I was worried someone had glued them on when they did the repaint.
I have the seats and most of the trim out anyway and the headline is being replaced so
I almost got the access I need already.
Cheers

The trim pieces that go on the top edge of the 1/4 pannels. At the bottom of the rear pillar.
What's an easy way to get them off? Do you need one of those special hook tools?
Thanks

Re: Stuck steering after rebuild
I have not torn my box out yet for its much needed rebuild so I don't have hands on experience with a tbird box. I do remember working on one years ago (don't remember the car) where it had different sized hoses but the nipples for the hoses used the same sized hole on the rack itself. So if you had...

Re: Stuck steering after rebuild
Before you tear it all apart I'd go over everything with a fresh Eye. Of course speaking as someone who has yet to rebuild my steering box. I would assume that if its turns fine lock to lock with the car off and only binds up when the car is running that the internal gear set is fine. It sounds like...
