Re: 1966 Thunderbird Project/Parts car for sale (picture gallery linked)
Hello, My 1966 t-bird convertible had an engine fire last fall. It was mostly on the battery side.So those wires got fried along with the temp, oil pressure, alternator, coil, choke and distributor. I guess all wires on the intake are melted. What I am looking for are OEM harnesses so I don’t have to p...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
Holy smokes Jeff, WOW! I feel bad you went through all this AND did photos! Thank you SO much! I think with this AND all the other member input, You may have just created the definitive "aftermarket wheel thread". Looks like for a 4" backspace 7" wide rim, a 5/16" spacer is...

Re: Alternator upgrade, wiring help requested
I would appreciate any pictures you can provide of the wiring the alternator. Also, to confirm, the AMP guauge has now been disabled, correct? Do you have a way to monitor Volts? Thanks. Matt I don't have a way to monitor volts right now, the amp gauge is disabled. I'm going to have a separate gaug...

Re: Alternator upgrade, wiring help requested
Jeff, you are right, your car is pictured in the other post. DUH. Just the car rim post I mixed up on who/what where for studs and such. The wheel post though informative, really should be in the MODS section. Regardless, glad your elect problem is solved Yeah, the wheel post started as a request f...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
Hi Greg, I don't think I have that old phone anymore, so I couldn't get all the pictures I took. But I pulled off a wheel and took some pictures of the spacers alongside a tape measure. It looks like 7mm or 5/16ths of an inch. I took some pictures with the tape measure at around the 3 inch mark, sin...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
Well... After doing a bit more cross referencing, looks like those Moroso studs may be Ford REAR studs. And... Going to Moroso's actual catalog they've plastered "DO NOT USE WITH SPACERS!" Warnings all over the page they are listed on. Hmmm. Thanks for all the info here. I wish I could ex...

Re: Alternator upgrade, wiring help requested
Hey Jeff, glad you got it all worked out. In the end, did you go with the 200A Alt or go back to stock and a good working Regulator? You did mention "New", so just curious. To my knowledge, I do not think a police car even has an Alt of 200 A, but I can be wrong, and they got a lot of stu...

Re: Alternator upgrade, wiring help requested
One last update: There was a tiny leak that was spitting out coolant right where the coolant tank pipe meets the engine. It's right at the alternator, and undoubtedly sprayed the alternator with coolant, getting into it and that probably contributed to the bizarre alternator behavior. New alternator...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
oh, yes please, stud and spacer info most helpful. Shop I went to the other day said 1/4" spacers are as thin as he's ever seen. Was really hoping with your sweet rims, "Oldboy", that you got away with 1/8" ones (if they are even available). I'll be ordering (and praying) 17&quo...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
any information on the longer wheel studs i have looked and looked but no luck for a 66 with disk brakes. https://www.amazon.com/ARP-100-7707-front-brakes-wheel/dp/B001T6CMZ0/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1480413210&sr=8-8&keywords=arp+ford+wheel+studs I am pretty sure these are the ones I ord...

Re: Alternator upgrade, wiring help requested
Just a quick update, for anyone interested: The day of my last post, I dropped my car off with my mechanic. They kept it and drove it around with sensors to measure voltage, amps, etc. and bench-tested the amp. They are a very good shop, very trustworthy, specializing in classic cars, and offer ever...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
Thanks for the great info again! These Riddler wheels look to have a 4" backspace (perfect!). They even make 17x7" rims with a 4" backspace. Could this mean you got away with using 1/8 or 1/4 spacers up front? Not too shabby, if so. To clarify, were spacers used on the rear wheels to...

Re: Technical question about wheels (Back/rear space)
I went with the wheels in this listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004IPPCJ2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and did need spacers. As far as the spacers that I used, I went to a shop that sells them, and bought a couple of different sizes, knowing that they would let me return...
