Re: '64 or '65 trunk lid fit on a '66?

ha ha, and I'm a funiture designer by education, oddly. Don't worry, all "patina"/surf. rust would be sand blasted out and sealed/painted purty (including the underside). And yep, you guessed it, don't have the welding resources/talent. Tryin' to save my "welding sheet metal piggy ban...

Re: '64 or '65 trunk lid fit on a '66?

Thanks for taking the time to dig all this up and post, Alan. Great info. Seems almost silly to replace my trunk which is in fine shape, externally. Just a bit of a shocker when I felt the rust slot along the back of the inner bracing. Still considering whether I should fiberglass it and be done wit...

Re: '65 or '64 Front window motors/mech's fit a '66?

Thanks so much guys. Ran across a few '65 units here locally that I thought I should buy, just in case, as I know these units are prove to issues/need rebuilding. Great info and thanks again!

Re: '65 or '64 Front window motors/mech's fit a '66?

So All three years of front window motors/components and vent window motors/components are different?! No retrofitting at all?!? Does this sound odd, from a manufacturing end, to anyone? I have a town Top, so no rear windows.

Re: '64 or '65 trunk lid fit on a '66?

Sorry, not a convertible, Alan. Just a town hardtop. Gonna start a diff. thread on the window parts question. Trunk lid question is "overshadowing" it. haha.. Thanks!

Re: '64 or '65 trunk lid fit on a '66?

That's kinda what I was thinking, at least visually. Still curious if anyone's ever bolted one up. Any insight on interchangeability of 64-65 front window motors on a '66?

'64 or '65 trunk lid fit on a '66?

Keep forgetting to ask this question. I know the hoods won't intermingle, but I've run across a decent '64 trunk lid I'm considering purchasing. I found a deep hole across the back of the underside bracing on my lid (can't see it, but put your hand back there and you'll feel the big gash!). Maybe th...

Re: '66 T-bird Width at outside front tires (not overall width)

No thanks, way too much risk and "danger Will Robinson" warnings all over Uhaul contracts. Gotta be there for a very good reason. If you had a manual Tbird (kinda wish they had that from the factory), neutral's your best friend. Disconnection of drive shaft is mandatory on automatic rear w...

Re: '66 T-bird Width at outside front tires (not overall width)

Wound up making a trip to the car this weekend and RAVEN gets the Forum Math Award... 69" it is!! (hey, just saw you're in Ontario! I was born in Guelph and still hold citizenship, but live in N. Carolina. Where in Ontario are you?) So it appears these cars CAN be put on a tow dolly (if you are...

Re: '66 T-bird Width at outside front tires (not overall width)

Trying to confirm for use with a tow dolly. Trailer no problem, except my tow vehicle won't handle the beast and a trailer together. I'd measure my own car, but it's in another state. Can't extrapolate a dimension. Was really hoping someone with standard equipment wheels/tires might have a dimension...

'66 T-bird Width at outside front tires (not overall width)

Can anyone provide me with a dimension for the front outside tire-to-tire width for our cars? Stock rim/tire size. All I've found is the overall width of 77.3" and something called "Front Track = 61" which does not seem right at all. Can't locate in the factory manual either. Even mea...

Re: Bird bath (with oil and a flat bed back home)

Thanks for the input, guys feeling a little more hopeful now. I keep forgetting about the FE Forum, Bob (always consider you guys here to be the 'go-to-gurus'. As my knowledge base on these cars increases, I'll be able to chime in on the 'solutions side' more often). Thanks for the link/reminder. I'...

Re: Anyone get smoke coming from around oil filler cap?

Geeze, totally forgot about this thread, very sorry. Looks like my "oil cap smoking concern" bit me in the behind, as it was accompanied by lots of oil leaking out onto valve cover and finally down under car onto exh. and smoking up the freeway (and eventually inside the cabin a bit, but a...
