Methinks probably not a torque converter as that would probably mean slippage or lockup. Why not get an AAMCO free checkup?

Take the big offer before they change their minds! There are plenty of T-Birds out there for that money.

Re: I'm such a dummy
try some toothpaste with a damp rag on a spot that is out of sight. If it works, then some polishing compound should do it for you. If not, you might have to take it to a professional in a body shop. Worst case, if you have good classic car insurance, it should be covered under your comprehensive cl...

Glad you made it home. Sounds like AAA would be a good investment?

Re: choke plate clearance specification
The plate should be completely closed (when you pump the accelerator once) when the engine is cold and should open slightly when the engine starts. You can adjust the rate of opening by turning the plastic choke housing cover. The more spring tension, the slower it will open.

Be sure you are using a good premium grade fuel or octane enhancer. I I had a similar problem on the first tank of gas that came with the car and it went away on my first fill up. I also use an ethanol defeater additive with each fill up.

Re: Repair Shop Woes
While I don't know your shop or their insurance, if you can, why not just tell them to get it fixed, or at least get a recommended shop from your (and their) insurance company. I was in a similar situation with my truck that was rear-ended. It was customized by a company that was no longer in busine...

Re: Repair Shop Woes
Sorry to hear about and see the damage. Frankly, I would not for a minute consider a shop that looked so ratty inside to work on any car of mine, especially one that could not be replaced. I think oily floors with rags on them are an indication of how the work would be done. Good service on old cars...

Thanks! Will do. All the wires have been spliced with crimped connectors, so I am checking all of them.

Re: Won't start, carburetor?
HI. The nos. probably mean something, but it's not the size. The aftermarkets are usually .089" while the ones in our 4100 series carbs are .098" .I'm sorry, but I don't know off hand what the Carter carb calls for, but the kit is probably correct. They didn't use to flow rate their carbs,...

Re: Won't start, carburetor?
Your inlet assemblies are aftermarket units that have a spring-loaded inlet needle. While this is a good part to use in off-road applications, it is not, as you have found, necessarily a good idea on limited use vehicles as the needle is lighter and there is no way to use the little clip that normal...

HI. If you determine that your part is compatible with one from the 61-63 cars, I have an extra one you can have for what I paid for it ($60). I purchased it from one of the vendors before discovering that the place I purchased the car from had another box of parts that came with it which included t...

Sorry it is not turning out well. Please contact me if you plan to part it out. Good luck on your search for another. I am very satisfied with my purchase from MJC Classic Car in Lakeland, FL. He usually has a few in stock and does consignments.

HI. If you are sure it's electrical, then disregard, but if not, consider vapor lock as a possibility.
