Re: Alloys
It is a pretty standard Ford lug pattern of 5 on 4 1/2" I have fender skirts and I wanted to have the same wheel dimensions on every corner so I can rotate the tires, so based on my calculations, 7" was maximum width. The limitations are inboard on the front tires when steering, and outboa...

Re: Alloy wheels
This should probably go in the "modified" form. Traffic there has been pretty slow lately, I'm sure we could use a bit more action over there. Also, if you do a search for terms like "backspacing" you will find a lot of history. It has been discussed a lot. It does depend a bit o...

Re: wire spoke wheel fix/truing
If you've bombed out with the motorcycle shops, and you really want to find a local place and not mail the wheel away to somewhere in the US, then I think you need to expand your network to include other car types in you specific area. Small British sports cars from the 1950s and 1960s used a lot of...

Re: Front coil spring compressor
I did an internet search and found this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/204717662111 It has square threads, so that is good, but it is made in China so....? There are very good products made in China, but unfortunately there are also things made there which either are designed improperly, or they are ...

Re: Correct size air filter
There were a bunch of years when we couldn't get the big oval air filters for the dual quad air cleaner and now Scott Drake makes them. Perhaps we can get them to make these too.

Look for a motorcycle shop. They have more experience with wire wheels.

Does your car use a starter with a long nose?

Re: Can the brakes be changed to provide almost "brake on a dime?"
A dual master will probably not improve the braking, but it will provide an extra level of safety. The first Thunderbird I had, and I haven't had it for a couple decades, had what I considered at the time pretty good brakes. Totally 100% stock, but completely freshened and in those days there were s...

Re: Radiator ID info
Buddy: GI is the vendor code for Ford's Grosse Island, Michigan plant. Other codes I need to get into research we've been compiling for 64-66 OFS revisions. It might have proceeded my time at Ford, but I don't remember a radiator plant on Grosse Isle. However, there was a radiator plant in Green Is...

Re: Heater core with air conditioning
If you have the old one, get it recored. Mine had been frozen and burst, but a radiator shop in Ferndale, Michigan was able to make it good as new.

Hi Terry,
Yes, you are right. I have only had 1966 T-birds and where 1964's are different is a little outside my area of knowledge.

Re: 64 convt electrical issues
A phantom current draw should be measured in Amps, or better yet milli-Amps (mA), not Volts. However, this isn't a phantom current draw. You've identified things that are "on" which will draw power. Many circuits are 'live' with the key off, so it isn't completely surprising that you are f...

Unfortunately here in the USA it is illegal to use airplane or boat fuel in a car because it hasn't had road taxes applied.
