Thanks, Gents. I believe it to be the moderator as well. Going to address it when it stops raining.

Cruise-o-matic shift point
Hi, I am the owner of at 1961 ragtop, and just finally got around to an engine teardown and rebuild. The motor is strong and no more leaks! Runs better than ever. Before I did this, I made a decision a couple of years ago to change out my transmission fluid and new filter. I don't know if the previo...

Re: COM Shifting Points ??
I see this is an old post, but these problems persist. My 1961 had shift points at 8-10mph and then at 18-25mph depending on my drive conditions. this is well within the specs outlined in my 1961 TBird manual. However, for some reason, after I had changed my Transmission oil and filter, fixed by shi...

Wow! Great work! I opted to add some color. Ford Blue valve covers, timing chain cover and fan. Why not.

Engine Rebuild - Color Scheme
Hi Folks: finally got around to doing my engine tear-down and rebuild. Freeze plugs were leaking, as well as rear seal, intake manifolds, and a few other various leaks are being fixed up. I want to paint some of the covers and parts of the motor. Does anyone have a good picture of what these motors ...

Re: CONVERTIBLE TOP CYCLE TIME
My 1961 takes about 90 seconds. All relay replaced, new pump, and drained, cleansed and replaced transmission fluid for the hydraulics. The longest time to cycle is the retraction or extension of the trunk flip-lid. I replaced the original motor that does not move as quickly as the original. But, it...

Did you try The Birds Nest (OR) or Larry's T-Bird and Mustang Parts (Corona, CA). There's a few east coast suppliers too, but I use these two mostly since I am in CA. The guys at Birds Nest are super to talk to. Very knowledgeable and passionate about these beauties.

Re: 1962 Roadster resurrection
Best of luck. Pretty hard to mess these up. The 390FE was around for a long time. Proven, solid motor. My Bird taught me so much, and now I am going to pull the motor and fix those leaks, paint parts, and clean it up like it's 1961 all over again. You are in the right place if you need help. Lots of...

Re: Battery Drain
Yep, right answer! You have to go through and see what is on after you turn off the key. If you don't see any lights on (convertible or hard top?) check your trunk light and see if it goes out. That is what happened to me. took me awhile to find that one. I happened to have my rear seat out and noti...

Re: CONVERTIBLE TOP STOPS WHEN BEING RAISED!
Hi: I have a 61 Thunderbird and suffered the same problem for some time before I finally figured out the problem. There are potentially several issues here: If you are able to start raising or lowering the top, it stops, and after a few seconds it restarts, then that issue is most like tied to the 5...

Re: Oil fuel additives
Hi: I have a 1961 with the 390FE in it. Runs pretty good for a 60 year old motor. I do not put any additives in the oil. But I have started to use an Octane Boost in my fuel about every other fuel fill. I do the same with a lead substitute about every other fill up. I have noticed a general improvem...

Re: 61' CONVERTIBLE TOP PROBLEMS
Mr Wulf's actions are spot on. Remove the back seat to get to the relays, build a 8 or 10 gauge wire jumper as outlined in the manual and go from relay to relay (check the manual for which does what function), and you'll be able to get your top up or down. then it's a matter of doing some 12v diagno...

Hey, you might try The Birds Nest out of the Portland, OR area. They seem to have a lot of parts around. www.tbirdparts.com is the URL.

Re: 1961 Convertible electrical config
Thanks JP. That’s definitely another item I have not yet ruled out. However, I have installed a remote switch so I can debug using a fob so I can watch what happens as the mechanics work. I will go down that route with the switch too. Thanks!!
