Re: More Repair Shop Woes
I'm glad you finally got your car back, sounds like quite an ordeal. As far as the muffler shop goes, I imagine all they did was to build a longer pipe from the header to the muffler. Not much mystery there. Enjoy your ride.

Re: Need 1963 convertible body
I believe the Thunderbird is a unibody, and only has a partial frame. I don't understand why you think a Galaxie frame would be a good replacement?

Re: Engine stalling after short time
Welcome to the forum, you'll find a lot of helpful people, and good advice. It sounds like a fuel problem, I would check the out put from the fuel pump, should be around 7 - 8 lbs. Also check your fuel line, make sure it's not plugged or corroded. You may need to drop the tank and clean it as well. ...

Re: Dylan's 64-408w airbags and more +
A great thread, you've done some fantastic work. Love the engine bay, and choice of engine. I'm a big fans of air ride suspensions. In the rear, in order to get the car into the weeds, most guys c-notch the frame to get it low, but being a unibody, no frame, you need to pay attention to structure st...

Re: break pedal dropping to far
Have you checked the vacuumn from the engine? It should be around 18 inches of mercury. If not then you need to check your vacuumn system. Try pumping your peddle a couple of times before starting your engine, then start your engine while holding the peddle down. It should drop a little, but to the ...

Re: Old Bird, New Build
Things are looking pretty good, amazing how much wear was on the shaft and rocker ends. This floating you are talking about, does it depend on the RPM, or just occur at any speed?

Re: Switch circut in engine compartment
Yes, you are correct, I did have to bypass the resistance wire. It fired right up and runs as smooth as can be. I am glad I replaced the intake, carb, and distributer. I also replaced the generator with an alternator. That is a good suggestion, I've used this setup in my other car, and it works fine.

Re: Switch circut in engine compartment
Thanks for the info. I was hoping to find an easy solution, but as usual there is no easy way. I think I will have to run a wire from the fuse panel. It has a thermal switch, but I don't trust that it will always work, and end up stranding me in the boonies.

Switch circut in engine compartment
I installed an electric fan, and I need to find a switched wire to attach one of the wires to. I am having a problem finding a place to attach this wire. Can I splice into the ignition wire going to the starter relay, or will this just cause more problems?

Re: Need Replacment Valve Covers
If you still need valve covers, I have a pair. They are painted blue, with the Thunderbird script on them, and no holes. I live in Canada, but if you want to pay the shipping you can have them.

Re: Old Bird, New Build
I guess you never know until you drive them. I was talking to a dealer here, that said they quit carrying American Racing wheels because the chrome finish was no good, and would peel off. I wonder if they were made in China?

Re: Old Bird, New Build
That is a real eye opener, about the Riddler wheels being made in China! I hope you don't have any problems with them.
