Re: Fair Price?
I paid $2,000 for mine a few years ago. It too had been sitting for 20 + years, but had a rebuilt engine installed prior to it being stored. Seems like a fair price.

Re: Plastic Re-chroming
I used some chrome vinyl wrap film from a company called Metro Restyling. It seems to work well and was cheap.

Re: Summit Racing adjustable proportioning valve SUM-G3905
I sent my Kelsey Hayes PV in for a rebuilt exchange unit by one of the T-bird parts suppliers. When the rebuilt unit was installed and saw pressure during brake bleeding it immediately started leaking. Probably wasn't rebuilt at all, just cleaned up a bit. I then purchased the Willwood adjustable un...

Fender Skirts
Finishing up the restoration on my 66' and installing the fender skirts for the first time. The skirts did not come with the car, but I bought a pair from an owner of a 64' who had sold his car. I've got all the pins in place on the wheel wells and the skirt mechanisms work well, but the skirts don'...

Electrical Gremlins
I'm finishing up the restoration of my 66' Town Landau. After installing and providing power to the rear tail light assembly, the rear brake light came on immediately, without turning the light switch on or hitting the brake panel. I can't get them to go off without cutting power from the battery. T...

Power Seat
The powered driver seat for my 66' TL works, but does not adjust completely. The motor works, and most of the switch functions work with the exception of the seat lowering adjustment which is controlled by the center knob control. On the 66' switch, there are three controls, two tilt levers with a k...

66' Front Bumper Guards
About 5 years ago I picked up a 66' project car. After I dismantled it, I took the front bumper in for re-chroming. It was in good shape but had some pitting. The bumper guards were nice so I did not get them re-chromed. When I got the bumper back, I inspected it, looked good and I wrapped it up and...

Trunk Bumpers ????
I'm finishing up the restoration of my 66' Town landau and my body & fender guy asked me about rubber trunk bumpers. I don't remember removing any but it looks like they would be installed at the rear corners of the trunk lid, where there appears to be mounts In the sheet metal. I've looked at p...

I also used a white Sharpie paint pen to do the "Thunderbird" lettering.

Aluminum seat trim
I recently completed stripping the anodizing off the aluminum seat back trim, sanding the scratches out and polishing and buffing the trim. It came out well and looks much better than before. Now, I'm trying to decide if I should clear coat the trim or leave it and deal with maintaining/polishing th...

Wheel cover restoration
I've got a 66' with the standard, non-spinner wheel covers. These wheel covers have a black painted ring with "Thunderbird" spelled out in white letters three times within the ring. On a couple of wheel covers, the black paint has worn off in places and I'd like to restore them. Re-paintin...

Window motor installation
I'm in the process of installing a new front window motor on to the window regulator. It is for the front window on a 66' Town landau. I have the regulator out of the car and on the bench. My issue is: How to line up the regulator gear with the motor gear and attach the motor while keeping tension o...

Re: Headliners 66 Landau
I did my headliner a while back. When I removed the old moon crater vinyl and foam from the boards, I also pulled off some of the top layer of paper from the boards. I then used fiberglass resin to firm up the headliner boards and smooth out the surface. I did not sand down the surface so it remaine...
