Re: Carpet sets

I had the same problem not as bad as yours, so I used some left over home carpet pad, it was about a 1/2" thick laid it over the tranny hump to fill in the gap. the longer it sits there the better it looks.

Re: Differential drain plug

I took a slightly over sized bolt and filed the threaded part into a square to fit the plug, then use a ratchet and socket that fits the bolt.

Re: Manual Transmission Removal

Is it the same for the 56 as far as not having to remove the motor to get the 3spd tranny out.

57 e code

I was looking through the local craigslist (Portland, Oregon) and came across a 57 t-bird E code, it says its a good driver restored 30 years ago all the options showing a little wear. One picture of it sitting outside no pictures of the motor, he's asking $14000. So I emailed him through craigslist...

Removing grill

What's involved in removing the grill, looks like you have to remove the radiator and maybe the hood to make it easier ?

Chrome Plating

I am also thinking about having my bumpers re-chromed on my 56, I have a 55 bumper on the rear so two pretty small bumpers compared to other cars out there. Unlike the recent discussion I'm out west in Oregon and all the plating shops with in driving distance have closed down due to regulations. I'm...

sanderson headers

I will be attempting to install a pair of Sanderson headers on my 56 with a 312- 3spd. o.d it looks a little tight around the clutch linkage on the drivers side, with a little tweeking to the collector it looks like it should work. I know there not going to make a big difference but they look cool a...

Re: Custom Wheels for '55 Bird

If you go to page 3, titled My 1956 ford thunderbird, greetings from Texas. He has pictures and sizes that might help you figure out what will fit even though there probably bigger than what you would use.

Re: 56 bird minus continental kit

I agree about more modified 55-57 Birds, you see a lot of late fifty to mid sixty resto- mod corvettes on the TV auctions. I think the small birds lend them self to the same treatment.
