Re: 64 Thunderbird Restomod Project
Congratulations and best of luck with the transformation. Please be sure to provide updates with pictures as you go along. Are you installing the 3.5 with the 10 speed trans as a single unit?

Welcome and congratulations on your new bird. You can try Birds nest or desert valley auto parts for used ones. I believe Birds Nest has replacement foam and possibly skins. Good luck from So cal.

Re: How can i access/change out the arial ?
Agree with previous posts. Time on your back inside the foot well and time on your back under the inside fender well. Other than that, antenna installation is pretty easy.

Re: 1965 horn issues
This pertains to a 64, but should be the same. Behind the steering wheel cone, as a part of the plastic structure that holds the turn signal cam, there is a carbon post with spring. If anyone has serviced the steering wheel or replaced the turn signal cam, it’s possible it was removed. Also, there i...

Re: Ford 390 Cylinder Compression issue
Yeah same here. Closer to 10 BTDC and I’m running stock except a Pertronix III. What is your idle RPM in park and in gear?

Re: 65 convertible failed water pump bearing?
Alan, interesting and makes sense, but I’d never considered it. Is it fair to say the same if you change to an aluminum intake manifold and heads?
Thanks Tony
Thanks Tony

Re: Pertronix Ignitor 3 or optionPP
Thanks JT. I was considering that it might be the power valve or dirty jets or possibly failing fuel pump. You have EFI…right? I am working on a custom multiport EFI system, but as of right now, I'm running an old 725 CFM Road Demon carb. I hate carburetors, and I hate myself for knowing as much as...

Re: Pertronix Ignitor 3 or optionPP
Stock coil with 12 volt ignition wire? Yes, a lean condition can cause misfiring from my experience. I would be reluctant however to run the stock coil at 12 volts. Except at startup, the stock coil typically doesn’t see more than about 7 volts due to the resistor wire. Your coil may be breaking do...

Re: Pertronix Ignitor 3 or optionPP
Hey Doug, not sure if it’s related, but most recently it feels like the car is missing. I checked the spark plug wire and verified the plugs were tight, not sure if the Pertronix could lead to this issue. I’m using the stock coil with a relay and the 12V ignition wire. I’m thinking it could be fuel ...

Re: Headlight Relay Conversion Article Info Wanted
Bama, I show the lamps and LED bulbs I bought earlier in this post. The LEDs work great. Low power drain and really bright white light. I couldn’t find a way to make it work without clearance holes through the bucket and behind the bucket. Great if you can. The lamp assembly is held in place with th...

Re: Console Shifter
I actually reached out to 2 companies that make fiberglass hoods for drag cars to see if they would build a version for 64-65 birds, but both weren’t interested. I was even willing to pay tooling. The hood and trunk on these cars weigh a ton. If anyone knows of any other hood manufacturers, let me k...

Re: Headlight Relay Conversion Article Info Wanted
Bamabird, I just saw your post. It looks like you have a similar headlight as I had originally. Not the same brand so you might still get lucky. Check to make sure the trim ring fits on the headlamp. I ended up just scrapping the lamps I had since I could get them to fit without destroying the struc...
