Re: Drive-line Vibration

That's an interesting theory. My '66 has the same vibration in the same rev range as has been being discussed. I'm getting ready to pull the top of the motor apart to replace the heads and change the cam. I'll let you know if there is any change in the vibration once it's finished.

Re: So.... the header installation effort has not gone well.

Thanks for the info. I switched to Valvoline VR1 last fall. I'll be careful to do everything right, don't want to screw it up or have to redo anything.

So.... the header installation effort has not gone well.

Decided a few weeks ago to finally bite the bullet and install the FPA headers in my '66. I've had them about a year and a half but the exhaust manifold leaks have gotten to the point that I just can't stand them anymore so it's time. Got the car all jacked up, soaked the exhaust manifold bolts with...

Edelbrocks are easy and reliable. I don't have any experience with the Speed Demon, it is a different design than my Street Demon, it's built more lime a Holley.

I replaced the worn out original carb on my '66 with a Holley 650 and it was okay but not great. This spring I replaced the Holley with a Street Demon 750 and I like it much better, the throttle response is crisp, the car runs smoother, and makes more power. They also have a 625 if you don't want a ...

Yes, the forum archives are a wealth of information. I've read everything I could find on exhaust manifolds, headers, loose shifters, wheels, brake calipers, etc.. I've found the answers to most of my questions without having to ask.

Thanks for the tips and info. If I break any of them there's no room in there to drill them out, I'll end up having to pull the heads. Probably should have just done that this spring when I had replaced the intake.

What size are the exhaust manifold bolts???

I'm finally getting around to removing my cracked exhaust manifolds to install FPA headers but I can't figure out what size the bolt heads are - they're bigger that 1/2" but smaller than 9/16", bigger than 13mm but slightly smaller than 14mm - what am I missing?

Mufflers will rust fast from the inside out when used mostly on short trips. Moisture builds inside them when they're not run long enough to get up to temp and dry out. On my '66 I'm running 2.25 pipes with round 14"x4" Magnaflows. It has a nice rumble at idle, light throttle, and when cru...

Nice!!! What is that tach out of? I mounted a Moon tach in the dash of my '66 above the radio, obviously your installation looks better as it is practically a factory set up. Very cool.

I couldn't get mine to stay on either. Took it to a local windshield shop and they glued it with their stuff and no more problem, it's been over a year now.

After changing to the shorter tires the gap between the tire and edge of the wheel well on my '66 was pretty noticeable. Changing to an aluminum intake and taking 60lbs off the front end made it worse. I had one coil cut off the front springs which dropped it about 2". The rear springs are a bi...
