Re: 67' thunderbirds worth

Another place to get a handle on valuation would be Hagerty - https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/search/auto Their tool will help give a range of values based on the condition etc. I think the pics for this generation of T Bird are still those of the car I owned. I sent them in during my ow...

Re: Sold the '69

The emptiness of the garage did not take until Spring to hit me.

I ended up picking up a very different summer car.

2005 Mercedes CLK500 convertible. Should be fun when the weather breaks.

But I still stop in here to see what is up with the 67-71's!

Re: 1966 390 slow ignition start

Thanks for the clarification. Not sure it translates, but my 69 always took a lot of cycles before it would start if it sat for longer than 2 days. It usually did, since I only drove it about 1000 miles a year for the 6 years I owned it. Adding the Pertronix did speed up the starting process some, b...

Re: 1966 390 slow ignition start

For clarity - you turn the key, and then there is a long pause, and then it suddenly starts? My 69 had an issue where it would sometimes not start at all until I jiggled the shift lever or pulled it "up towards P further". It was resolved when I replaced the turn signal switch, so I assume...

Re: Is this a relay?

I had signals and 4 ways but no brake lights anymore (they all had worked when I initially bought the car). It took me a while to figure it out, and years to find a non tilt, non cruise control column switch (the 69 is not shared with any other Ford, nor any other year T Bird). http://www.vintagethu...

I never had any of the other issues you reference so not sure they are related. For assistance with diagnosing the issue with the signals try here - http://www.thuntek.net/cougars_unlimited/seqts.htm More info here, including what Cougars has listed on eBay for '68's - http://stores.ebay.com/BARGANS...

Re: Is this a relay?

Do your brake lights work?

Do your 4way flashers all work?

It’s all down to two or three things with this vintage T Bird.

Column switch
Trunk mounted box

Re: New Member, New to classic cars

Welcome!

I had a 69 Tudor for 6 years, and it was always a good car to drive.

The Fordor is rarer, and in all the shows I attended locally I only ever saw 1.

Re: 1971 sequential turn signal when lights are on.?

During the time I had my '69, I had issues with the sequential lights. I ended up replacing both the trunk box (Cougars Unlimited) and the column switch. It was the column switch that fixed my problem of no brake lights. I do know that when I had it all running right that even when the headlights we...

Re: Pictures from 2017 Atlanta VTCI International Convention

Great pics, thanks for sharing! The largest collection of T Birds I have seen together was at a local car meet (Hamilton at the harbor) where they run a weekly meet with a special marque featured. The T Bird night last year had a great turnout, and was the only other time in 6 years I ever saw anoth...

Re: Sold the '69

I had only advertised the car locally, but my neighbor ended up contacting the eventual buyer. He is a business partner to my neighbor, and they specialize in buying CDN cars and selling them back into the US (most of the cars they deal with are 25 years old or more). The T Bird is going to be in th...

Re: Sold the '69

I do apologize for not getting out to any of the formal local events. I attended many local general car gatherings in the first couple of years. My travel for work always gummed up my intentions of getting out to a local meet. Darn work! The new owner is in Chicago, so not sure the Ontario based clu...

Sold the '69

I absolutely enjoyed the 6 years (and ~6000 miles I drove the car during those years) I owned "Ali" as my girls called her. The new owner picked up the car and drove it (!) about 500 miles home. I was surprised that was his approach, but felt the car would be up to it. I had checked over t...

Re: my thunderbird's gate release

Elmer sold off the last 2 T Birds (both 66 'verts) in the late 80's. Before I came into his daughters life in the late 90's.

I have seen pics of the yellow and red convertibles, but he has not owned a T Bird since then. I never heard who he sold them off to. Local I imagine, but unclear to me.
