Finnish on Wing Nut and Washer on an |M car with A/C

To all the gents with original M cars equipped with A/C with the remote reservoir power steering canaster. All I have ever seen is the Wing Nut and Washer that hold the lid closed, both in a Silver Cad finish . Has anybody seen an original with these two components chrome . Any input appreciated, Ian.

Re: AC BLOCKAGE

One more thing you evacuate the system with a vacuum pump to make sure you get ride of any non condensables ( mainly air and moisture) these can give you false readings as to a fully charged system and also cause it to run excessively high head pressure and damage to your system .

Re: AC BLOCKAGE

Terry you can charge 134A by liquid or gas state , the trick is when your system is in a vacuum after using the vacuum pump by charging through the high side ( discharge side ) you can draw pure liquid in the system through the condenser to the evaporator and through the tx valve to the suction or l...

Re: AC BLOCKAGE

First of all your A/C mechanic should be doing a nitrogen pressure test of your entire A/C System and track down your restriction from there , that is of course with a new drier installed. At the same time it would reveal any refrigerant leaks soaping all your connection , threaded , flared or the r...

Re: Part Number on Muffler

You want to keep that original Ford Muffler, I had inquired to one of manufacturers and he said he could put new guts in the mufflers . Mine are original M mufflers and retaining them is a must . So it can be done, but I can't remember which company I talked to . Hope that helps you in any way , Ian...

Re: Adding a tachometer

My own personal preference is to mount it on the passenger side of the consul, at a angle towards the driver and angled up at the same time . If you remove the panel on the consul you will find a hole already in the casing to use to run your wiring . I personally think this location would look a lot...

Re: Exhaust control valve

Ken, the whole idea of the heat riser valve is to allow your engine to warm up faster in the colder seasons mainly winter ,fall . The 62 style heat riser is more available than the riser used on the 63 M roadster so if you search you could find one on E Bay or some T-Bird suppliers . If you decide n...

Note also if they are trying to say that is the correct distributor , it is definitely not . Way too much for what your getting . As the saying goes , I wouldn't touch it with a 10 FT. pole.

Re: 1962 Engine Bay

Correct me if I'm wrong on this Alan , but only the early production 62's had the firewall painted the same colour as the car . Later production as with63's all had a black firewalls. I guess going by your production date or even checking the color behind your front fender rear splash shield should ...

Re: HELP!

Also be careful when you press fit the the bearing flange and drum together . make sure the surfaces are clean and flat or the drum can go on an angle resulting in the brake shoes hitting on an angle and not the full shoe hitting the surface evenly !

Re: 1962 M-Code, Holley 2300-C List Number Stamp Location

Jonathan; I notice again on the original M set-up ; a few things 1- a flattened area on the PVC tube where the all to often plate, is missing that fits under the accelerator assembly against the rubber cushion strip , as per our discussions 2- I hear all to often of the anti stall dash pot having a ...
