Re: 1961 Hot Start question.

I wonder if a phenolic spacer used instead of the original coolant thru carburetor spacer would help for those who aren't as concerned about their car being origninal?

Re: 1961 Hot Start question.

I have the same problem with my '63 ht. Do you think it might help to switch to a 160 degree thermostat from the 180 that's in it now?

Just a thought and thanks!

Aluminum Radiators

I need to replace the radiator in my 63HT after an unfortunate incident where the current one had a piece come loose and get into the fan which took out the core. I'm considering an aluminum one so I did a search and found some suggestions but didn't see where anyone actually installed one, so that'...

Fan diameter

I have a 1963 hard top that I added aftermarket a/c. The installer changed the engine cooling fan to an original 7 blade w/clutch. I added a fan shroud in an attempt to keep the engine cool but still have problems when idling in traffic in that the temperature slowly climbs until I can pick up speed...

Re: Harmonic Balancing Pulley

I sent mine to Damper Doctor a few years back. They rebuilt it and sent it back Seems really nice. I don't remember what it cost but I'm thinking it was around $100. www.damperdoctor.com

Rear seat back refurbish

I had the seats in my 63 HT recovered and replaced the foam as well. Installed the rear seat back last night and it seems too wide and it won't stay seated at the top and pushes out a half inch or so. I have all four screws installed at the bottom and from what I understand from my book all it has a...

Re: Engine stalling after short time

I had a similar problem with my 63HT in that it would stumble anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes after restarting when warm but wouldn't act up at all when starting cold. This was a car that had sat idle for close to 20 years. When I first got the car running I had to replace the fuel system and ...

Re: How Does the Aftermarket Stainless Peak Trim Compare to OEM?

Tom, I replaced the peak trim on the passenger side door because the original one was damaged beyond repair and I found the replacement one to be an adequate replacement for the original part. The steel was definitely not as heavy as the original but visually looks pretty much the same. The finish i...

I did a quick check and found a few on ebay. They aren't cheap however.

It also gives you the opportunity to make sure the linkage on the bracket is working freely and clean it up and paint it if you want.

Re: Brake Power Booster

Okay, I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier and I'm much less experienced than most here but what I did was remove the bracket that the booster mounts to by removing the nuts on the studs that pass through the firewall and disconnect the brake pedal. Then you can remove the bracket and it's m...

Re: Brake Power Booster

I've used Booster Dewey for my booster on my 1963 HT. I highly recommend them.
