Re: Temperature Regulator Valve - How it works
Don't forget the tech article that was in the Scoop a few years ago detailing how to rebuild one of these.

Re: Dropping Steering Column
Thanks for the advice, Steve. . . . and the picture. I realized that there was an old 15 X 18 mirror sitting next to the car in the garage. That gave me a good view of what was up there, so I think I see what to undo. Since it is a convertible, I put the top down before starting. I have secured the ...

Dropping Steering Column
Working on my 65 Convertible. Trying to sort out the A/C. Need to replace the expansion valve due to contamination in the system. I am not as flexible or as talented as a previous poster who manages to change the A/C expansion valve without pulling the dash, so I'm following the shop manual. I'm up ...

Re: HEATER/AC VACUUM REGULATOR
Found my problem. One of the vacuum supply lines was bad. Now stuff happens and no leaks. I did have a look at Jim Mills article on rebuilding the control head. While pondering my vacuum problems, I decided to do the rebuild. It went remarkably smoothly, and the rebuilt unit is in the car and workin...

Re: HEATER/AC VACUUM REGULATOR
Thanks, Wally. I had forgotten that article. The good news is that I don't have to rebuild that part of the system as it works just fine. My issue is with the vacuum regulator that sits between the face plate and that wheel of fun. It feeds into it at nipple "B". I'm guessing that when the...

HEATER/AC VACUUM REGULATOR
I am trying to sort out the heating/AC on my 1965 Convertible. The vacuum regulator does not hold vacuum when applied through the black nipple (from the source) with the Gray nipple blocked. These are the only apparent official paths for vacuum through this unit. The Vacuum regulator is the unit tha...

Re: Jack Post
Hey Randy, I didn't want to hi-jack the conversation?! I discovered the problem when Martin tried to insert the jack post into the fender well and it wouldn't go. I agree that ideal answer would be to find the correct jack. I haven't totally rejected that idea. On the other hand, cutting the e...

Re: Steering Slop
You may still have some looseness from old age (the car's old age, not yours!). There are things you can do with alignment, and adjustments on the steering box, but here is another thought based on my own experience. Power steering in 1965 was designed to make steering "effortless", which ...

Jack Post
I have a 65 Convertible. I was missing the jack, but have assembled all the jack parts. The jack post I got is 39 5/8 inches long and will not wedge into the fender well. A friend checked his 66 convertible and the jack post was 34 1/2 inches long. Were the jack post lengths different for convertibl...

Re: Outside mirrors
Hi, I have a 65, but didn't know there were short and long base mirrors. Still, hope some of this will be a help. Here is a picture of my drivers door showing holes. If you are not sure of exact location, it may be in the body/interior assembly manual, or if you know of another TBird nearby, it woul...
