Yea, mine has the aqua interior. I am going to the Dr. Vinyl to see what it takes to get the top dyed. I think that would add a little to the car. Thanks for the comments stangs and Alan. I'll give the wheel idea a bit more thought. I wish there were more people on here who have found a wheel option...

"Cool" it up a bit

I have a pretty vanilla 66 Qbird. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a cool model, but mine is white with a white landau top. Looking for ideas how to do something new and cool with it this spring (but not too expensive). I am thinking of dying the top, or painting rims, or buying new wheels and tire...

Thanks edpol--I have pulled the trans to replace a clutch on a 64 galaxie. I did that on the floor of my garage. The car and I survived. I'll probably try doing it myself for this car as well. If it takes me 6 months to do it, at least I can say I did it myself. I was asking because I was hoping the...

1966 Thunderbird Repair Front Seal Transmission Question

Hey all. I have a 1966 thunderbird with a 428 backed by a C6. Problem is, the front seal is increasingly leaking on my garage floor. Anyone have experience replacing the front seal on a C6 transmission? Wondering how big a job this is for a home mechanic. Also, if someone has paid to have it done, h...

Yea, I suspect the vacuum on mine too. I'll look over the manual again, then give her another try. Thanks, both of you, for your advice.

1966 428 kick down

I think this car is supposed to start and rev higher until you kick it down with the accelerator. Mine doesn't so it dies on start up until I drive it a bit. Can you tell me how the kickdown works and how to reset it so it works. I believe the 4 barrel carb is standard and complete. It seems the cho...

Thanks for the response KKC. Let's do the coolant leak first. I checked out a pressure tester and bought a water pump today. I tested the cooling system and I'll be darned if the overflow didn't leak from the bottom of the tank onto the water pump. So I'll be taking back the water pump and looking t...

FE Engine leaks--please help. I'm a novice.

I have two problems, I'm requesting a little advice: 1-I have trans fluid dripping from the front of the bell housing. There is a little hole at the bottom of the front plate and trans fluid drips from there. 2-antifreeze is leaking somewhere. I saw it on the cross bar under the trans. I'm wondering...

Actually, Redstang had the door lock idea. I do have the can under the hood, but don't have working door locks. Going to look into the possibility the vacuum hose is for that.

KKC--you might be on to something there. My air does not work and the door lock switch does not work. I wonder if that hose is supposed to be a vacuum to run the door locks? Does that seem plausible?

Welcome to a game called "what's that thing under the h

I was replacing the heater core and discovered two things that concern me on my 1966 thunderbird: 1-- A rubber boot type thing is coming out of the firewall on the right side. It looks like it was cut off. 2--I found a vacuum hose that has a tee plugged in the end. The opposite end seems to go into ...
