Re: 61 strut rods different from 62-66?
Geoff, its been a while since I installed the new rubber bushings but I am pretty sure the ones in your photo are correct. They were definately not like the ones in Toms photo. However, his strut rods look the same as mine.

What stove said! Definitely use DC products. They might be a bit more expensive but you won't be buying twice!

Re: Sad Birds
I assume the parts were for sale as most of the cars had parts missing from them and it certainly looked like a business. I think it was next door to a crash shop if that is any help. Unfortunately the place was closed due to being a holiday when we were passing and I couldn't go in to have a poke a...

Re: Sad Birds
All I can remember is there are 2 large yards next to each other on the edge of town located on old route 66. Gallup didn't seem like a large place so they would be hard to miss as the yards are right on the roadside. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Sad Birds
Recently saw a couple of bullet birds (among a lot of other cars) sitting in a parts yard on Route 66 in Gallup, New Mexico looking a bit sad and sorry for themselves . The blue one still has a lot of salvagable parts but the black one is pretty well beyond it but you never know, it might just have ...

Unlikely place to find a '56.
Whilst travelling home via the Las Vegas (McCarran) airport, my jaw dropped when I came across this very neat '56 in a roped off display. I thought you 'Baby Bird' guys might be interested, so I will let the pics do the talking. The car looks to be sitting a little high but it is sitting on axle sta...

Re: Whatchamacallit convertible trunk piece?
According to the 'blue bible' parts manual, the description of the part is: Group No. 432A34 - Nut & Housing Assy. - Luggage compartment door lock. Part No. (61/63) C3SZ 76432A34-A. There is no reference to left & right side so they both must be the same. Hope this helps Grant.

Re: PVC valve installation on 1961 - Hood air cleaner clearance
Willis, if you are interested, here are some photos of the PCV system I fitted to my '61. The metal tube and valve itself were relatively easy to find via Ebay and are NOS items and were inexpensive. The rubber hose is off (dare I say it) a Toyota 4 x 4 and was readily available from my local radiat...

Re: Leak at the Transmission Downshift Lever
If you still have the original '61 COM in your car, the selector shaft or 'manual shaft' is held in place by a nut inside the trans which means removal of the pan and also the servo's etc just to get to it. There is seal for the manual shaft and an 'O' ring for the kickdown shaft that goes through t...
