Re: 57 bird oil pan removal
Try CASCO, Hill's or Prestige as they may have a spare pan to sell. In addition, try these guys - they have used parts and are good people to deal with: Bob Schermerhorn 518-392-2472 Tony's Classics 515-321-0767 Adrian Lori 570-709-0823 They usually are not cheap. Older discussion but does anyone ha...

Re: Exhaust Heat Risor Valve ?
I have two cars that originally used the heat control valve, a 54 Ford and 56 Bird. Removed both of them and used the spacer. I have not noticed any difference on the car getting warmed up.

Re: Power Window Motor?
On things like heater motors and window motors it's not the voltage that is the problem it's the speed that that these will operate on with 12 volts. They were not designed to run that fast so you get heat build up causing failure or worse. Window motors are not that much of a problem (as are seat m...

Re: '55 Thunderbird Fuel Pump
I had Arthur Gould (now AG Rebuilders) in Mass. rebuild a couple of pumps for me and had no problems. Been awhile, don't remember turn around time but it wasn't bad. Might have some in stock.

Re: '56 TB Garnish Kit Covering
I installed the drop curtain in my 56. It's kind of late to do a write up but I can do it tomorrow and send it to you email. Just message me your email and I will send it to you. I had the garnish molding done by an upholsterer so cannot help you there.

Re: Speedo replacements
If you want to look for another speedo, try Adrian Lori at 570-709-0823 or Bob Schermerhorn at 518-392-2472. I have dealt with these two in the past with no problems.

Re: Convertible Top ?'s
My 56 had a Prestige top with a swing arm. It worked perfectly. You do need to get the attaching hardware from Prestige as it is different from the factory attaching hardware.. I originally purchased the top used after I got my car (no conv top) and then located a factory swing arm. I did it my self...

In NJ there are two very good Tbird clubs if you are interested in joining a club. New Jersey Open Road Thunderbird Club (NJORTC) of which I am a member and the Garden State Classic Thunderbird Club.
NJORTC has a web site and a Facebook page. Look us up.

Re: 56 to 57 Driveshaft Length
Does this apply to just 57 or does the length change apply to earlier years ? These numbers are incorrect and were corrected by Gil. The corrected driveshaft length for the Fordomatic transmission is 28.5 inches. The standard and overdrive transmission driveshaft length is 25.5 inches. This is per a...

Re: 1955 smaller steering wheel, reduced steering column length
There is no commercially available smaller steering wheel for a 55. As for the generator light, I suggest removing both the generator and regulator and have them checked out by an automotive electrical shop. One easy test to make - remove the negative battery cable (power cable if still 6V positive ...
