Re: 1955 smaller steering wheel, reduced steering column length
There is no commercially available smaller steering wheel for a 55. As for the generator light, I suggest removing both the generator and regulator and have them checked out by an automotive electrical shop. One easy test to make - remove the negative battery cable (power cable if still 6V positive ...

Unless there is fuel in the floats, no sense in replacing them

The plastic "spacer" or tip is available by itself. CASCO lists them

Re: Hesitation taking off at low RPM
What initial advance are you running ? Y blocks seem to run better around 10-12 degrees. This MAY cure the problem.

Re: No Brake Pedal
The switch is pipe thread if I remember correctly. Get a 1/8 pipe plug.- hardware store item or a parts store item.
Even a very slight leak can cause brake failure. I had it happen to me.

Re: Need help with identifying trans part: '57 FOM
It's called an Inspection Cover in CASCO's catalog. Part # 7980.
Leak could be coming from the front seal. As you probably know, red is trans fluid.

Re: Pertronix Install
I have heard that the Pertronix I went south if the ignition was left on without the engine running. Nor sure about the II which I have or the III, but I am very careful about this. If there is a question, contacting Pertronix is the best plan. I don't know if this is the right place to put this pos...

Re: Stock Intake Carb and Distributor Value
A number of years ago, I swapped my stock 56 distributor for a 57. Kind of hard to sell the 56 distributor but a person that had a 56 and his distributor went bad finally found my ad and bought it. I was advertised at 200.00 at the time which he paid. Typically, 56 intakes don't go for much money an...

Re: backup lights
#1 you don't have to get snippy when somebody tries to help you. # 2, all you have to do is trace the wire from the switch forward to find out where the wire is tied in - but you already knew that, didn't you ?? This was exactly no help whatsoever. I KNOW where the SWITCH is located, that's not what...

Re: backup lights
The back up light switch is located on the transmission or the shifter if a stick car and is part of the neutral safety switch if an automatic car. In stock form, the power wire comes from the light switch to the backup light switch and from there to the back up lights. See my earlier explaination a...

Re: Need bulb sockets for back up lights
Look for sockets at your local auto parts store. Most have a display with all kinds of electrical parts and wire. As was mentioned, the factory wired the back up lights to the light switch so they would not go on if the light switch was off. Many have rewired them, as MarkR said, to the ignition swi...
