Re: Bad brake booster
In the UK I have the same issue - getting hold of parts. I attempted a repair myself but it didn't hold out as the rubber on the diaphram was perished, weak and cracking. After reviewing the options of a local custom repair job compared to the usual USA vendors, my cheapest option was Rockauto (they...

Re: Transmission Removal Questions
I'm in a similar position... I have a C6 box (with bad leak from input shaft area) but also have FPA headers.
I'm considering removing the engine and transmission together. Or is this a greater amount of effort?

Re: Sad Birds
Yeah I looked under the hoods. Both empty. There may have been a transmission still.

Re: Sad Birds
I drove Route 66 last September and saw that yard. Having stayed in Grants the night before we headed back to the scrap yard (Oscars Auto Salvage) to find it still closed. Ended up inside, the owners brother was there. Oscar the owner unfortunately is ill with cancer so we learnt that the cars were ...

If the timing cover is off too, you can hold on to the shaft just above the oil pump.

Lower control arm bolt replacement
Hi I have noted that this bolt that secures the lower control arm assembly is rather corroded. Is there a replacement? I note that is splined, so I'd rather try to source the correct bolt rather than using a normal bolt. ./image-archive/img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/30psi/LCA%20Bolt_zpsva7kry2x.jp...

Re: Brake caliper hardware kit
Thanks, thats what I assumed. Will need to find some bolts, as the all inclusive caliper kit doesn't include those bolts.

Brake caliper hardware kit
Hi I've ventured across to this section from the '61-'63 section as I'm using a '66 brake setup on the old TBird. I've bought calipers with hardware kit from Rockauto... It comes with these clips, which appear very different from the very rusty calipers I had come with the front hubs. There were no ...

Does it matter? The spindle takes the same load regardless of the way in which the wheel is connected to the hub...

Re: Front spindle snapped
Wheels aren't a universal pattern like some wheels e.g. cragars, they're of the correct PCD. I understand your line of thought but the wheels are not wide or offset which would increase the load on the bearings/hub. There is no damage or pitting on the rollers on both bearings. Ultimately the issue ...

Re: 63 Brakes making a knocking sound when applied hard in reverse!
I'd adjust up the brake shoes and re-test. Also worth verifying that the auto adjusters are on the correct sides. If wrong they will loosen off the shoes rather than tighten them.

Re: Front spindle snapped
I've ordered up some '66 calipers from Rockauto. So thats the route I'm taking to fix the issue. I checked the hub rotor setup with the knackerd calipers and all fits well except the wheel weights clip with the brake pipe on the caliper. WIll only need to relocate these an inch outwards and it shoul...

Re: Front spindle snapped
Went and had a closer look at things. Good news is the 66 discs and calipers can just about fit. Here's the damage. Clearly the initial fracture is about 65% across, with the rest breaking on flexing... I'm surprised how thin the spindle is really ./image-archive/img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/30ps...
