Re: Looking For 1965 TBIRD I sold and want back

The agency that sold the car could be able to help..or, if you have 'friends' in the DMV or police. Anyway, I found this listing.....

Re: Hard starts after sitting a week

Check your carb's float levels (primary and secondary). With modern gasoline and a lower boiling point, you could be getting fuel 'boilover' causing vapor lock with an over rich mixture in the intake. I found I had to run the float levels in the 4100 slightly lower to compensate for the modern gas.

Re: Bobs Bird House

Thanks for the heads up! I was planning to stop by the 'new' Bob's Bird House near there near New Castle, Del and drop off (for some $$) some left over odds and end parts from my '66 I sold last year. Does anyone know what happened to the original owner, Bob Mensch? I bought my first Bird off him wh...

Re: upper back panel limit switch rebuild

Save the headaches.....Not matter if you succeed in your rebuild, there are parts in this switch that are going to fail because of inherent non-robust design. I tried the rebuild many years ago and never got it going. Luckily I sent it to these guys and they upgrade the weak links in the switch and ...

Re: Testing temperature gauge

It's been a while, but IIRC you just have to unplug the connector at the sender and touch it to ground which should simulate a hi-temp reading.

ID The Car Under The Cougar Sign

I know this technically doesn't belong here, but if I can get a temporary pardon (still a somewhat Ford related post though ), I figured I'd run it by us T-Bird guys, who are pretty knowledgable and see if you can help me nail down the make/year of the car in the car in the cool pic. Can anyo...

Re: Carburetor rebuild

Tip---Don't overtighten the power valve cover when you put it on. That cover can easily warp and leak vacuum around the gasket.
Originally the accelerator check valve ball had a short metal rod over it to provide weight to re-seat the ball.

Definitely an add-on...possibly to set a car alarm or disable ignition in the past.

Re: Only 7 MPG - City

Unless the engine isn't running right, MPG is the last thing you worry about on these cars, built in the day of $0.35/gallon gasoline.

Re: Only 7 MPG - City

MPG factors---Is your tire size the same as original, or very close if you have metrics? That could throw it off. Also the speedo gear in the tranny could have been changed also. Check those by finding one of those digital 'YOUR SPEED' radar displays the cops put on roads and compare your speed to t...

Re: How to remove brake rotor from hub

Car was sold to me as "brakes redone"... I know sellers lie all the time, but it's hard to fathom someone lying about something as important as brakes.]
He didn't lie (as a lawyer would see it), just didn't tell you which brakes were re-done. ;-)
