Easiest way to check is with a phone GPS app. Then you will know.

Re: balancing with ceramic beads

Along a similar line, I've wondered about adding wheel hub concentric rings?? Available in a variety of sizes. I've had 3 sets of wire wheels and have always been able to find "Stud Centric" balancing but had to ask for it. No problems when the shops understood why. They either provided th...

Re: On a 1957 Maintaining Charge with a Battery Tender Question

I've always opened the disconnect, not wanting to keep power to old wiring - even though no other issues were apparent. Just my nature to always disconnect a battery in vehicles not used frequently. Fused connections to power the clock are possible, as are AA battery quartz conversions (my choice) o...

Re: 55 Steering wheel restoration

As for a primer sealer, I would only use the same brand of products from start to finish. So, work it backwards. Go to your automotive paint supplier and ask what primer sealer you need for the brand of 2-part paint and clear you intend to use. Sometimes mixing brands works, sometimes it doesn't. Sa...

Re: 55 Steering wheel restoration

I saw your pictures and having also repaired and painted a couple of these steering wheels, I feel you have 3 choices. A-install a leather steering wheel cover (cheapest and quick) B-thoroughly clean, scuff and repaint with high quality automotive paint with several clear coats like MarkR (and I) ha...

"This is starting to look like an article / tutorial on how to adjust generator voltage regulators is needed for the Scoop as this topic would be valid for any pre-'63 'Bird."

Great idea!! Thank you!

Just a thought, do you have a braided ground strap from the engine block to the firewall?

Re: It looks like the dash is coming out......

Do you have the Electrical Manual and the Trim and Sealer Manual? Lots of drawings and info to help you.

While the dash is out, paint the underside white. It makes things a lot easier to see when you have to crawl under the dash again.

Re: '57 generator conversion

I had one for years and never swapped it because I never had a problem. YES it was close, but never an issue. I switched to a Delco 3 wire alternator and sold everything many years ago. Change if you must, but it was not a priority for me.

Re: Removing Brake Light Switch

Although something like the brake system is very important, I certainly do not want anyone to be accused of "overthinking" this issue, as we all have to be within our own comfort level. It is not complicated. These pressure operated switches WILL fail, at some point in time! It's a fact. I...

Re: 56 Hard Top

Interesting. I notice you also don't have the full wheel covers or fender skirts. Was this an attempt to lower the initial price of the car? Are there any other accessories not installed such as P/S, P/B power windows or seat & auto transmission? Looks great though. Mine has almost every option ...
