Re: My Tbird is going to Long Island

Hey, my old buddy! I check in here from time to time and was a little sad to see you've sold your '65. I have some idea how much time and love you put into that car but it's nice to know it went to a good home.

Look forward to seeing what your next project will be.

Take care Bob, Gary.

Re: How Does She Look?

Paint job looks great!

One thing my detail-oriented brain couldn't help noticing though - the rear quarter panel emblems are installed back-to-front. Should be a simple matter to remove the retaining nuts and flip them around, if you're so inclined.

Re: 1964 Engine Original to Car?

My '64 was also a paint code C car. It had been repainted several times by the time it found its way to me, but traces of the original paint could be seen in the trunk.

I believe the color was called Princeton Gray when used in the Lincoln line.

Re: Sold the '69

Take care, Gixxer Man!

I've been Birdless myself for a while now since selling my '62. Right now, with two motorcycles taking up space in my garage, there just isn't room for one. But someday, I know I will rejoin the flock!

Re: Tires 225/70 Fit & Whitewalls

I just went through a lot of searching for tires to move from my wide white walls closer to the 1" that was period correct for 63. As Alan mentioned the current cross reference for the 800x14/G78-14 tire sizes is 215-75/14s if you check a number of tire manufactures web sites. As also mentione...

Re: 64 Front Disc Conversion

Has anyone converted there front drum brakes to disc? Aftermarket kit? Home made? I was thinking of having a fab shop plasma cut out the caliper mounting bracket and maybe using 69-70 mustang calipers , master cylinder and discs. Any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks You'll find a ton of information ...

Re: Looking to sell. Need advice what to ask for.

Personally, I'd take a car with a seized engine over one with a Swiss cheese body any day. Engines are "relatively" cheap to rebuild compared with extensive unibody repairs, the cost of which can run into the tens of thousands. Anyway OP, it's tough to accurately value a car sight unseen, ...

Re: Label, 1962 Power Window Instruction

The 10,000 original mile '62 survivor I owned did not have this sticker, and there was no evidence (ie. adhesive residue) to indicate one had ever been installed.

Re: Lenses for Fender Mounted Turn Signals

That's right Wally, the NOS set of lenses I bought had both "L" and "R" on them.

And as Paul said they have ridges on them while the repro lenses do not.

Re: Lenses for Fender Mounted Turn Signals

Check on eBay. I found a set of NOS lenses on there a while back. Think I only paid $10 for the pair.

By the way I also found a whole NOS indicator on eBay. I think it adorns redstangbob's car now.

Originally the aluminum trim was anodized; usually a clear finish was used but they could also be tinted blue or beige depending on the interior color.

Re: Am I correct?

Far as I know there are no hard and fast guidelines spelled out in the Concours Rules on this subject. Using the very original '62 I owned as an example, all the parts I could find date codes on (with the exception of the glass) were produced less than a month prior to the car's scheduled build date...

All T-Birds of that vintage were assembled at the Wixom MI plant, the code for which is "Y".

A necro-thread regarding upholstery cleaning has just resurfaced in this section. It recommends using Fast Orange hand cleaner to clean upholstery. Might want to check it out.
