Alan, I used to do this professionally for truck tonneaus. Typically, the cover would be covered with some sort of paint protection, like foam sheeting. Use the shortest wire from the kit to connect the bayonet end to the negative choke cap terminal marked (-). Ground the eyelet end to the carburetor. PS I also had a brake job done with new shoes all around, new wheel cylinders and a new brake line. Yeah either way, it's all expensive. I recall dropping $1600 on my wheels and tires. I am not a big fan of the raised white letters, like on the good years. It kinda reminds me of the 80's (which I also wasnt a fan of haha) IMO, keep what you have on there and save your money for what you really want.
