'66 Q - Test alternator use this RED post?
On the back of the alternator I see a red marked post. Do I attach the Red multimeter led here and the Black on the negative battery terminal? When I did the meter reads 12.6 volts. Should it be 13.6 volts or above? Do I need a new alternator?
Re: '66 Q - Test alternator use this RED post?
Yes, your meter connections are correct, but we need to know if
the engine is running!
If alternator is not turning, then your 12.6 indicates battery voltage.
When engine is running (alternator is turning), yes, we would be looking
for a higher number. That number will depend on other factors, like RPM,
condition of regulator, harness, battery - and alternator.
Hope this helps.

Also, while it’s running. Simply attach multimeter to battery. Easier access. Just my thought.
