Check the schemas on these links. There is a brown wire from the starter regulator. Inside the dash it connects to a pink Resistance Wire? The pink wire then connects to a red-green wire from the ignition switch.
What is the purpose / function of this pink wire?

I'm going through the old wire loom and cleaning away the "repairs" some dork has done. Opened up the passenger side wire bundle in the engine compartment. I noticed that the brown wire was cut off. Confused

The pink wire is a resistance wire used to reduce the voltage to the ignition coil and points, the coil is designed to run with around 8 volts the lower voltage is also easier on points they don't pitt as fast.

OK! Thanks tbird!

The next question is that what is the purpose of this brown (cut off) wire from the starter regulator?

The brown wire feed 12 volts to the coil for starting it comes of the I terminal on the solenoid which is live when the starter is engaged and connects on the coil side of the resistance wire. When the ignition switch is returned to the run position the I terminal no longer puts out the 12 volts so the coil is supplied from the ignition switch through the resistance wire giving the coil 8 volts for running.
