Yes, the car will run fine with the compensator disconnected.

I removed mine and plugged the vacuum line after fitting a Quickfuel carb, with no ill effects. I would have kept the original 4100 carb set up along with the device but we don't have a competent carb rebuilder in this town. It is factory fitted and increases the engine idle speed when the AC is activated. I believe it was fitted to the 1961 MY only.
