Hi, this could be your problem as it happened to me. Did you install the Pertronic? When I installed the Pertronic on my 64 it would crank but no firing. Took it out and put the points back. Tried again later several times and sent it back to Pertronic. Fitted another set and still would not start. ...

Re: Rebuilt transmission slips- vacuum, linkage or something else?

I did my trans some 7years ago so hopefully my memory is good.
Have the bands been adjusted. One is inside (difficult) and one outside.
If I remember correctly the modulator is adjustable. Could be the governor?
And finally hydraulic oil pressure.

Re: Pulling Trans with or without bellhousing?

Hi, I had a bad leak from my 64 COM and decided to pull it. Used four heavy duty jack stands on large wood blocks. My only problem was the exhaust pipes off the manifolds would not allow the bellhousing to drop down so I moved the whole trans back as far as I could, removed torque converter, disconn...

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Accuracy-updated 9/12/2011

Hi all, I fitted a new tank some years ago which came with a new O-ring for the sender and I have no end of leaks from the sender. Got a new O- ring slightly larger to fit in the grove in the tank but still leaks. Can only fill the tank halfway otherwise the garage stinks of fuel. Has anyone had thi...

Re: Safety upgrades?

HI TbirdIntender, I added daytime running lights to my T’bird last year by using LED Switch Back globes. Wired them to ignition and flashers but had to add a ballast to each so they would flash correctly. They work great, white with engine running and switch to amber on turns. Have done heaps of oth...

Lost relay

Hi all, Is it possible that a 64 HT low fuel relay could be located somewhere else other than near the fuses? Sorting out low fuel light problem using Osborn Electrical Manual and redstangbob’s excellent post from way back. Found courtesy light relay and the low fuel relay should be next to it but i...

Re: A-Arm play on upper control arm ends

Hi Privateer, I completely replaced my front suspension and have exactly the same clunk. I have checked everything and cannot for the life of me detect what’s causing it. I will try your method and see if that’s the problem. I did use a jig when fitting the upper shaft ends. I will get back to you t...

Re: Rethinking the '64 ammeter

Hi everyone, When we got our TBird 64 ten years ago I joined this forum and read lots of comments about car fires. I studied the wiring system and decided to remove the ammeter and replace it with a volt meter. Changed all four gauges to modern ones. I joined the two wires were the ammeter was with ...

Re: Any experience on aftermarket water pumps?

My temp problem is different. Every Saturday it’s cars and coffee, so off we go on an 8 kilometre run to our meeting place. On the way the engine temp is 170-175. After sitting for roughly 2 hours drinking coffee and talking crap we head home and the engine temp is 140-150 same distance, no hills, n...

Re: Water pump coolant leak

On my 64 the cover plate was just plain steel and developed a pin hole leak. Although I had a spare pump I thought I would have a go and replace the cover and gasket. That didn’t work because every bolt holding the cover sheared off.
So, out with the new pump and away I went.

Re: Brake Booster

Hi Paul, some time back I posted that my 64 brake light switch started smoking and dripping brake fluid after a car run. The switch had split open. Lucky I walked into the garage and saw the smoke and the smell. I decided to make a mechanical switch and bracket mounted on the brake pedal under the d...

Thanks Stubbie,
I have a completely different booster. I am thinking of making my own due to the freight cost for such a small part.
